Hi all. I havent been on for a while, sorry:o . My truck is giveing me fits after adding the chip. I out a 6 position chip in it 2 days ago, and now my rearend diff. is locked full time. I was taking off from the parking lot in front of the store today and heard a loud popping sound, and now when I turn it acts as if my 4 wheel drive is engaged. The rearend doesnt want to follow, but instaed pushes the truck, in turn causing it to bounce, and chirp the tires. Kind of like when you lock the diff. on a tractor...you cant turn...or at least makes it very difficult. What should I look for and the solution? If this isnt enough info gimme a holler and will fill you in on what you need. Thanks again guys:D

Are you absolutly sure the truck is not in 4 wheel drive. I have been having problems going from 4 to 2 when it is cold out. It takes a while to get it in 2 after the gears have warmed up a little.

I am absoultly positive its not in 4wd. I havent used the 4wd in probabley 2 weeks. I dont really know how to explain it.

-When you turn hard to the left or right both tires rotate at the same speed, where as the inside tire should slow down, it sounds worse when going forwards then it does backwards.

The only thing I can think of was, right after I put my chip in, we got on it real hard on the 6th setting, which broke loose the tires on the pavement. I only did it once, but could i have screwed up something in the rearend? Broken tooth on gear? Thanks for your help akdiesel.

had that problem on my stock tires when they were 40% left...and usually when I let the track roll back .5-1.5 feet or back out certain distance....when I went forware and made turn it was still locked for like 1-2 km....changed my tires to yokoham later on that year and the problem went away...so I don't know exaclty what happen or if thats normal....

I've had the rear end lock up on every late model truck I've had (99-5.3L, 02-6.0L, and 03-D/A). Just snap the throttle the next time you are turning a corner to spin the tires and it'll release again. At least that's what happened to mine. Usually after spinning on snow, etc, I would notice the rear tires scrubbing on dry pavement like you mentioned when turning.

The rear end should not be any different in 4 or in 2. It does not know if the truck is in either.
I would pul the cover off and look inside. You could have broke some teeth off or you may have welded somthing together:eek: with the force you put on it.
Have your ever changed the fluid in the rear end or pulled the over since you have owned the truck? I recomend changing all the fluids (except the radiator and brake unless needed) after a brake in period like around 1500 miles. You get rid of any chunks of metal or debri that may have come loose, broken off or worn off after braking in. This will also help with the seals so that nothing gets logged in the seals and makes them start to leak.
