Got a customers truck in here, it is an 02. cab&chassis.
he wants to put cruise on it, did not come from factory with it.
Two dealerships i have called said it cannot be done. I have done it on late 90's trucks, but it was expensive. Wiring harness, switches, computer, etc.
Is there a way to add it to this truck? Cost is not an issue, it just has to have it on it. His two other trucks have it, and he wants it on this one.
Any help, part numbers, etc would be great.
thanks
brian.

Try putting a new multi-function switch in it. I am pretty certain that is all that is required on a duramax.

thanks. I am going to rob one from his other truck and see if it works. I have been told now by every delaer with 50 milesof here it can't be done. Even one told me i need a new cluster and whole wiring harness.
One place farther out of town quoted him $2800 to do it.
I take it the wires are there, i am on my way to check. If so i could probably wire a couple pushbutton momentary switches on the dash next to the headlight switch to see if it work.

Yes you could wire up switches to work. Robbing a turn signal switch is pretty quick and easy though.

while on the topic of cc, I often take trips across highway 50 (the worlds loneliest highway) its long and straight and ill be on it for 16 hours a day. Im pretty fond of setting the cc at 70-75 when im out there. Ive heard from some though that the cc is no good for your truck becuase it makes your tranny control accel and decel. Is this true? My feelings are that if the cc was bad for your truck or tranny than they wouldnt put it in your truck. any thoughts

Try putting a new multi-function switch in it. I am pretty certain that is all that is required on a duramax.
After searching around under the dash, I have concluded that the wires are not there. I may have to run them to the comp, need to find out if the programming is there for the cruise or not. The switch is to hard to remove just to test. from what i have on the diagram there should be 4 wires to the switch.
A brown that is 12v switched/hot in run
a gray/black that is the resume/accell signal to pin 22 on C1
a gray that is the on signal to pin 16 on c2
a dark blue that is the set coast signal to pin 18 on c1

any tech care to look this up and be sure it is right, before i wire it in?
