I have ben searching the fourms and I cant seem to find the GM part # for the fuel filter head or housing. I have a loss of prime almost daily in this cold weather usual in the morning or after it sits more than 8hrs. I built a fuel cap to pressurize my fuel system and found the bleeder screw leaking and replaced it. I cant seem to find any other leaks so far. Truck runs fine after I have to prime the fuel system. Please help. Its a 01 dmax auto and has 175000 miles. Its been going on for atleast the last year. It runs fine during the summer months and has had several filter changes and one new wif sensor. Why would I have a loss of prime only during the cold winter months? Thanks

I had this problem before and I checked out everywhere for leaks to no avail. But remember, this vacuum leak may be happening without seeing fuel leaking. I cranked the fuel filter tighter and the problem was solved. Up till this point I was using only my hand to tighten and even though I have a very strong grip I am using the wrench to tighten.

Thats why I pressureized the system with 10lbs. air. It should have a fuel leak with pressure and not vaccum. It has had this problem with several filters. I want to order the fuel filter head mount from GM parts direct. But I have a hard time with their catalog. Do you know the correct part number for 01 dmax. Thanks

I don't have the part number. Since parts contract in the cold, why not make a last ditch effort and tighten the filter up another 1/2 turn. You may very well be right since you put pressure in the system but this is what I would try.

I'll bet Eric at Merchant Automotive can help you out. See vendors link at the top lefthand of the page in the second blue bar.
