I always do this topic on my other forum when I road trip my Regal. Its a nice challenge so I'll do it here too.

I'm taking my truck from San Diego to FairField its about 530 miles.

On my Regal I average anywhere from 27-33 MPG doing it and for the most part I stay undercontrol and go 55-65 the whole trip. I leave at 11 at night so I dont worry about holding up traffic and when its really dead and I'm alone on the road Ill go as slow as 50 mph

So my plan with my truck is the same thing, leave at 11 and go 55-65 the whole 530 miles. The weather should be around 50-65 degrees and a low coming at 25 degrees for about 30 minutes. It will just be me and my girlfriend and less then 100 pounds of junk for the weekend so my truck will basically be empty. My gearing is 3.73

So predict my MPG and range I'll mail the winner a free Detroit Diesel Decal :)

Heres my lifetime Fuel Economy Log

http://www.gassavers.org/garage/viewgaslog/909

I need to pull 17 MPG to make it without a fuel stop

so If you predict 17 or more be sure to be more exact like 17.1 MPG 17.2 MPG Etc..

Can the mods modify my poll question? I meant to put 530 miles not 30 miles. Thanks

100 MPG - you are going to have a breakdown and need to get towed the rest of the way....LOL

Seriously though - 17.84 MPG

19.0001 mpg if you really drive like you say you will, maybe even better. Inflate tires to max for the trip, really helps.

Well without knowing what modificaitons(if any) you do or do not have, and assuming your drive is not interstate (50mph is pretty slow on the highway even for me, and my grandfather tells me to speed up when hes ridin with me), being that your truck is simalar to mine but 2wd with smaller tires, my guestimation would be..... 18.9mpg ....

Ive been able to fit no more than 28 gallons, and thats at dead scary "well Im about to be stranded" freakin empty, in my truck, so assuming you have the same fuel tank your range should be..... 529.2 miles.....at 28gallons exactly, just enough to leave you walkin the last 8 blocks or so to your house on the return trip....

I lost an alternator on my return trip from NY state on a sunday afternoon. Including the rollback ride to the nearest parts store (who's manager stayed there till 10:30pm so we could get the alt), I figured my fuel milage to be around 45mpg on that leg of the trip. Unfortunately the tow-bill seriously out-weighed any fuel savings....:D

That's what I would predict if you stayed at or around 60mph. So with excursions into the 65 range I will guess a 19.5 mpg avg.

18.3 Mpg is m guess
Your log seems a little on the low side for fuel. Me driving around in 4 wheel in snow and beating on it, and idling for long periods I still cant do worse than 14.8 Mpg, in the summer I consistantly pull 17.4-18.1 logging every fill up.

From 11pm to around 1am I'll be doing about 60, from 1am-6am thats when I can pull off 50-55 since I'll have the road all to myself. The only time I really have to do 65 is around 7 when people start waking up.

100 MPG - you are going to have a breakdown and need to get towed the rest of the way....LOL

I was gonna make that an option but I wanted to stay positive :D

So if I do break down you win :)

All I've done is swiss cheese the coldside of the airbox,K&N Filter and removed the muffler.

Yeah my lifetime economy since I been tracking it is horrible but since diesels and turbos are new to me I havent been driving it conservatively cause listening to the turbo is fun and so is smoking out tailgaters:cool:

I leave tonight so lets see what this can do, Im hoping for at least 18 mpg.

I say 19.1. I think it's very possible if you drive easy.
You could take my Express and do the trip in 1 tank each way going 75-80mph the whole way:D

No that's her age, but in .2 years she'll be legal:)

55-65 mph is a big swing. I think 55mph you would get 19.5, and at 65mph you would get 16mpg. So average it out it is 17.75. But you need to average 60mph or I want my money back......oh, wait......never mind

I made this topic and it wasnt discussion worthy at all :(. I'm going to attempt to top that number next month since the weather probably wont be as horrendous next time and I have a lower valance now so I'm going for 22 MPG.

But here you go

It all depends on your trucks set up. Upgrades, gear ratio, lead foot or not. LOL if it was my truck 3 weeks ago would have been 11MPG
