I called The local dealership up here and the price of these things is almost double the price of the old one. The price is about $72.00 in US dollars, Does anyone know of a source where it is cheaper?

I think 72 dollars for a fuel filter in this series is Insane.

well, sucks, you get twice the filter in one can, so double the price sounds right.

As mentioned, kennedy, also gmdieseltech.com, but Eric seems to be having some
sort of gap problem, also adiesel.com

Bought one yesterday from local chevy dealer for $36.00. I felt it was a little high but I could live with it.

It would be nice to get a fuel test from a truck with just the new filter ... would make a good addition to the Fuel Test Results data (http://home.usadatanet.net/~jbplock/ISO/OC_Dmax.pdf)

You wanna sample it? Since you have records of your previous setup(s) you'd have history. Just need to redo the pump test also.

From there if you really want to get clean fuel, I have the 1 micron synthetic medai unit for your Mega filter setup. THESE elements are worth the $70+ cost...

Does that mean we will also get twice the rust and contaminants in the filters too?

I still remember that filter change i had a while ago.... no start conditions, stalling, shuddering.

Would it not be beneficial for filter MFGRs to oil or use a disperse lubricant in the media to prevent rusting of the cans on unused filters?

Its not twice the filter. From what I have seen it has two layers of pleats . The old filter had the same thickness , but was one layer of pleat. The words still out on weather its better. It may clog sooner now that the depth of the top Pete is shallower. Do we really know if they have a finer micron filtration? I dunno. I have seen the General go back wards with some things before.
