: New predator issues?

I just got my predator and loaded the 85hp tune. I also programmed in my tire size.

Now, when I have my cruise on the truck surges, it cannot maintain speed. It gives it gas then lets off then more gas then lets off????

Any ideas on what I should do?

On level ground? That's a new one...
New predator or used?

I had issues with the truck surging when I first put the Predator on but that was when I was stepping on the pedal. I've never heard of the problem while on cruise control. What speed are you in cruise control at? Is it shifting when it surges?

i've heard it happening before. mostly on the dodges though, not so many w/ the chevy's but it has happened. give them a call they will most likely send you out a new one

I'm not sure what it was..? I think maybe I didn't give it enough time to learn the new power. One night it was doing it real bad but i just went on a 300 mile trip for new years and everything is fine.

It was doing it at 35.

It's a brand new predator.

It was doing it at 35.

It's a brand new predator.

My truck did the same thing (with the Predator at 45), so I unloaded the Predator and it still does it between 30-35. I think that it is normal at such low speed, because of the weight of the truck.
But please, prove me wrong

You had your cruise set at 35 MPH?

I'll try it(If I can find a place where I won't get run over...) and see what happens.

watch what rpms it does it at. The predator(especially in cold weather) makes my 03 act funny. It seems to build a lot of boost at 1800-2300. When it's cold and you're not in OD but cruising along right at that threshold before the overdrive fully kicks in. In my case it almost feels like a slip since it'll shift, then rev down then I'll hit the RPM threshold and it'll kick into high boost again.

It's hard to describe it as other than a surge, but the Predator for me has always had that in my truck on the 65hp and up tunes. It also sets an overboost code, but I never get a SES light from it, but it's always in memory. I heard there's a reflash update to correct this, but I can never get those guys to answer an e-mail about sending it back for an update(I think I'm 1.04).

being a programmer, I'm ready for EFI Live

Well...forgot that I'm running a stacked tunes...
Anyway, I set the cruise at 30mph today. Eventually...it leveled out at 30. This was on level ground. On level ground if yours isn't leveling out to a constant speed then something isn't right.
FYI
This is an issue with big tunes. Stock tune the computer moves the throttle X amount when the speed drops off. Big tune, the computer adds the same amount of throttle, over shoots the speed and backs off, over shoots again and adds even more...etc. This usually isn't an issue on level ground but can be quite the ride in the hills;).

OK I lied in my earlier post. I took a 400 mile trip yesterday to go snowboarding and it still does it anywhere between 35 and about 53?

Should I unload and reload the tune? I understand the part about big tunes (thanks to wanadmxsub), and that makes the most sense and completely explains what my truck is doing. I'm just not sure how to fix it?

:help:

I believe the fix would be to reprogram the cruise settings closure together...problem is, there is no way to do that, currently.

Mine does the same thing for awile until the truck learns the tune (takes awile) but it will go away eventually
