A few thoughts as I finished injector replacement yesterday:

I have new found respect for those on the forum that can change injectors without the special socket and without the turbo removed.

I removed the turbo, fender well and tire to get at the passenger side. My 30mm socket would not fit in many places and the OTC 5060 socket worked great.

Never buy/install reman injectors from the biggest auction site in the world. I decided to buy them when I did my engine swap last year to save myself $100. Now that I have the new injectors from Heath installed it runs like a different engine. It certainly was easier changing the injectors with the engine out.

The Heath instructions that came with the injectors were excellent.

I did that too, plus I have a 2 post lift in my shop that I put the SuperBurban on. It made it easy to look right in at the passenger side.

I'm thinking of replacing my injectors. I'm considering the marine injectors with the hope of a future ECM swap when my wallet recovers. Kennedy sells them for $600 + install kit; Heath sells them for $479 + install kit; Large Auction Site (some guy from Ft Worth) has them for $238 including install kit. All appear to be rebuilds with new nozzles.

Why the large discrepancy in price, even between supporting vendors? I'd particularly like to hear from site sponsors, as I'm a diesel noob, and I'd like to get decent parts. What's involved in rebuilding the little boogers?

I'm inclined to order from Heath, but his site lists them as "out of stock".

I have to pass a smoke test (emissions) on a dyno every year. Should I stick with stock injectors? 195/430 is fine, but more is better! I'll be towing a 25 ft, 7500 lb camping trailer in the mountains of Utah.

All I took off was the turbo. I went with the 40hp marine injectors form SSDiesel Supply. Turned up the pump and I would def have to say my truck wouldnt pass emissions
