I'm going to install some type of sound proofing/deadener in my new truck. I figure since it'll be torn apart for the custom leather and sound/video system I might as well do this while I'm near the bare floor anyway.
What does everyone recommend for brand, place to buy, and amount needed for a crew cab? I've found a bit of information regarding Dynamat, a spray in type, and one other that BlueOx recommended (don't remember the name but I have the link bookmarked at home)... Just curious to know what everyone here uses and why. I browse a couple of the car stereo forums occasionaly but not nearly enough to know much about this subject.

I am going to do the same thing. I bought a bunch of Stinger Road Kill Expert (http://www.stingerelectronics.com/web/prods/roadkill.asp)sound damper that is just like the dynamat. I think all of it is just about the same at that level. I bought it from a local guy here in OK and it was less $ than the dyanamat. The stuff is very heavy and shipping was expensive when I was looking online so I decided to go local.
I am going to do all four doors and the back wall of the cab. I think most of my interior noise comes from the back wall. I pulled the carpet back and there is verry little insulation on the back wall. Also the doors do lack in the insulation department so I think it will help conciderably. I had dynamat on all four doors of my last truck and I certainly noticed a difference.
Good Luck,

I put close to 200 sq. ft of http://www.sounddeadener.com/products/ in my truck, (see pics). This was after the initial install of my system and the difference is huge. You can also buy some of the gutter fix it stuff at the local Home Depot for the small areas. It is the same exact material, but a bit thinner, and only 6" wide.....just triple it up.

I have seen Ice and Water Shield and it looks to be a good product........self sticking, easy to cut with a knife, and not too expensive......although it is probably asphault based..........:(
Any building supply store would carry it, Home Depot and Lowe's would be the most common national chain store......
Any of you stereo guru's want to check it out and let us novices know what you think about it.........

I've used and see many different products through the years and IMOCascade (www.cascadeaudio.com) is the best. It's not the cheapest, but it does it's job well and doesn't make it smell like someone's praving IN your truck. I've also never seen this peel. Good stuff....

Ice and water shield does stick very well(I use it every day) but it has a fine mineral coating on it and I don't think it will follow the contour of the door panels very well. Maybe at work tomorrow I'll try it on one of my doors and see what happens. Jim
