: Possible hesitation problem with my LLY??

Hey Folks,

I've got an '04 2500 HD with the LLY engine. It's completely stock and has about 14k on it. Up until now I've noticed no problems at all. However, now that it has gotten cold, I "think" I am experiencing some sort of surge/hesitation problem in the mornings.

Basically, I only notice this problem at one point in the morning as a pull a hill on the freeway (60 mph) about 5 miles from my house. It seems to occur just after the Ally trans has gotten warm enough to lock up in overdrive (which usually occurs about 1/2 mile before I pull this hill). This surge/heistation only seems to occur in the mornings at this one particular point. I have not experienced anything when the engine is colder and the tranny has not yet locked up, nor after the engine/tranny are fully warm.

I know that it's about time to replace the fuel filter, but I don't know if that would have anything to do with these symptoms or not. Also, I've heard about a potential reflash, but I'm not sure if that would be appropriate for this situation.

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!!

After receiving my reflash, I noticed a difference in the truck. I had 58000 miles when I reflashed. Never had a problem with my LLY, exccept one day when I had bad fuel, but Stanadyne cleared that mess up. Everything on my truck is still stock. I don't know if a reflash will help in that situation, as it is intermittent, but you never know until you try. Just got to the dealer and tell him that you are having low idle surging and request a reflash. Some of them won't do it, so you may have to find one that does.

With the reflash, I noticed the truck to be a little more quieter and more responsive.
