I'm trying to find a product that I had installed on a truck years ago to improve the ride of a Ford truck with rear HD springs. I can't remember the name of the product but I'm almost sure it was made by Firestone.
It was an odd shaped knuckle, after unbolting the main spring at one end this knuckle was installed and spring bolted to it. The knuckle had a rubber torque spring in it and the truck bed/ body rode on the rubber torque spring until a heavy weight was put in the bed. When that happened the rubber torque knuckle would close by the weight and the truck would ride on the main springs again. It worked great and improved the ride quality of the empty empty truck. It did not affect the weight capacity and provided a smooth ride when empty.
I want to locate that product again if it is still being made and put it on my new truck. Does anyone recall anything about it to help me with my search?

Never mind, after some more searching on Google I found what I was looking for. They are actually called Velvet Ride Shackles from BFG.
Thanks anyway.:D

Glad that you were able to find out, in the meanwhile I knew that I had read about a similar product a month or so on here. So after a little searching I was able to find it so might as well post it. It was called the Sulastic rubber spring shackle. Hope this helps someone.

If I could find them, I would definately be putting them on the truck. I had a set on an old Ford that lasted forever. They are pretty easy to install. My trailer sits a little high in the front and these would correct it( lowers the back of the truck about 2 inches if I remember correctly). I'll try to persue this search and let you guys know how it finally turns out.

Your probably right. I'm having a heck of a time finding them. The BFG ones are the type I had before but I heard that a company called Lords Corp. has started to make them for our trucks but it might be a dead end. I found a company with that name and sent them a contact email and asked if they make them but have not heard back yet.
I'll check out ebay too, when I get a chance.

As far as I could find out, Velvet Ride's are not made anymore. However, the Sulastic uses the same design and are available, there is one person that uses them on the board.

The Sulastic looks like a nice product and if I didn't need the 1 to 2 in drop in the rear that the Velvet Rides provide I would try them right now. If I can't find a new set of Velvet Rides that someone has collecting dust on a shelf, I might do the Sulastic eventually although the price seems high compared to the Velvet Rides. Supply and demand and availability, I guess!
