Anyone put one on a 6.0L Gas motor? I was wondering how well it would work. I know it wouldn't be the massive gains of a Diesel, but anyone have one on their gasser? Let me know. Thanks!

I just tuned a buddies at work. He's got an 03 3/4 ton 6 liter. We disabled tq management and loaded in the 87 tune. I couldnt believe how much you can do with those particular programmers...There were so many options we were sitting there scratching our heads wondering WTF did what...

He said it felt noticeably stronger...Said its a helluva lot peppier now that the computer isnt holding back tq.

NIck ,

Did he get any better on the Mileage side? It still is just hard to believe in a gas motor, you can get such gains with simple electronic manipulations? I sure hope it works! Thanks

Even if you didn't gain milage or power, you will LOVE the way it shifts. the stock shift pattern & fimness stinks, the programmer will cure that, and that will gain you a little milage just from the tranny getting into the next gear quicker. but for the money (unless you found a deal on one) a custom tune is the way to go, wheather it be mail order or live, some really good tuners do it for less than the cost of a new handheld..

I have no idea. He says that 12 is pretty much the normal. The programmer also showed that one of his right bank o2 sensors were bad, although, he had no check engine light. That, I'm sure explains terrible mileage but then again, those 6 liters arent exactly known for their stunning mileage performance.

I tuned my '04 Silverado 2500HD 6.0 gasser with one, and could really tell afterwards that it was much better then stock. HP gain might have be around 20-30HP, but what I could tell the most after the install was the low end torque and when pulling a 24' hardside camper (~5000lbs) you could really tell it was more then stock. I also had an AIRAID cold air intake on it so I'm sure that helped as well, but I was very pleased with the tuner added to the gasser.
