Yep! That's right! I am driving a shiny new Dodge Ram CC/SB! :D

For a week and half anyway. -:t Had you all going didn't I? ):h Well I had a choice between the Ram or Escort, so go figure. I finally got my Dmax in the shop to have the bed fixed. Pics in a few weeks.

STILL LAUGHING!!! :ro) ):h

I had a choice between the RAM and the GMC Canyon. I chose the Canyon due to the better gas mileage. I'm really glad to have my DMAX back.

By the way, that RAM was a QC/SB not a CC/SB. I've been in them and that back seat is short on leg room and riding comfort compared to my '02 CC/SB 2500HD.

JoeAccording to many of the Dodge loyalists at the RV.net forums, you are wrong about that. They swear up and down that the Dodge quad cab is just as good as the GM crew cab, quoting over and over the exact measurements as given by the manufacturer's. Pointing out facts and/or anecdotal accounts like yours mean nothing to these blinded folks. On the other hand, with the release of the Dodge "mega-cab" next model year, they may actually have a real player in the crew cab market.

I have sat and seen the CC Rams and the back seats are TINY compared the the GM CC.

So who on here drives while sitting in the back seat? ):h Not everybody buys a crew cab either. The back seat in our new Buick Rainier is bigger than my Rams back seat. The Rainier has a better ride too. More bells and whistles too.... but I'd rather drive my Dodge any day.

Bottom line.... if the room in the back seat is the main issue, you should buy GM. Comfort over all is a GM TRUCK buyer's MO. My wife loves the Rainier and is happy to be out of the Full Size Blazer. But than.... that's my wife.

Good one Hoot! Just what I was thinking. I let my son test drive my truck when new. Me and the misses rode in the back for about 15 miles. That was enough for me. My dog likes it though. Later! Frank

My dog likes having more room in the back too. I'm getting tired of vaccuming every day though.

Just the extended cab, I don't want to spoil him to much.;) Still has more room than the ext. cab on my old dodge.

Hey don't get me wrong.. I agree... the bigger the better. I know I had a GM crew cab and it was nice. But the Dodge crew wasn't that small as to keep me from buying it. I hear the Ford Crew also has a smaller back seat than GM although bigger than the Dodge. Now Dodge is coming out with a mega cab. Never ends does it?

I was loaned a 3/4 ton HO Dogde for a weekend trip when my truck broke. Cured me once and for all of ever thinking about buying a Dogde. Yes I know I put the g before the d on purpose.

Seriously though GM HD's do have some good points... I'll get back to you while I think about it.

Ok I'm back

GM....
Nice ride
Easy to climb in and out of. Comfortable seats, largest crew cab of all.
Great engine.... at least the preception of
Definately a great automatic
Easy to bomb if you are only capable of plugging in a toaster but has the same auto tranny limitations as the Dodge
Not so easy to repair or service
Requires torsion bar adjustment to allow curb hopping. Gets high centered on parking stops
Poor impression of a 4x4 truck when you consider ground clearance and underside vulnerability

Dodge....
Nice ride
Harder to climb in and out of. Smallest crew cab but soon to be largest by far.
Great engine.... period
48RE auto sucks but the last upgrade Dodge did has definately toughened it up
Easy to bomb
Extremely easy to repair or service. Turbos and other real mod parts readily available and easy to install.
Accepts 35" tires with NO mods. Rolls over parking lot stops like nothing.
Well designed 4x4 truck obviously meant to be offroaded when required.

Seriously I look at it as different strokes for different folks. I can't see going back to GM IFS as long as the others make a decent truck and drivetrain. The rest of the stuff (bells and whistles) doesn't sway me unless there was a real big deterrent (wife is another story). I've found my Dodge to be more fun than the GMC. I've found it to be a standout in the crowd.... one of the reasons I originally bought the GMC. I get looks from all the GM guys... and i know what they are thinking... "Man i wish my truck sat up like that". I always was impressed with the Ford and Dodge frame/suspensions. Not so much with Ford's. Too sloppy of a ride. Tired of dragging my ace around and decided to get into a rugged oil burner. It has been a pleasant surprise.

It is true that the Chevy has lower frame ground clearance. However, I have not found it to be a problem.
I had to pull a F 550 utility bucket truck out twice in the same day. The first pull he was high centered and I pulled him out while I was on my frame and rear diff. buried. The second time wasn't bad.
I have since had it in the fields, in tractor ruts, after all the hurricanes came through, on the frame with the rear dragging and still pulled myself out.
I don't think that the times I was on the frame, a solid front axle would have pulled out.
I have to say that I have been impressed with the HD's ability to go thru stuff even with the lower clearance.
Had to put in my 2 cents. Hope everyone had a good New Years.

*Rolling Eyes profoundly* A rugged Oil Burner? Everything is based on 4x4 and ground clearance?Diesel towing torque you never use.Sounds like a inferior complex to me. We live in a asphalt jungle on the East Coast,Hoot, last I checked. Are you a farmer, live on a dirt road, drive off road?Nope, a commuter Queen! You could drive and be better off in a Yugo!

Ah MAC you sound like my good freind Duke. Regardless of me, my inferiority complex or where I/we live or how we use our trucks.... Duallies and all ):h , the facts remain. The trucks are very different. As long as we realize that and don't outright belittle each other over brands we'll all get along. I'm not insinuating you are MAC.. It's fun buying, upgrading, a little bragging. My neighbor just bought a Nissan full size. It more suits yours and my driving than these trucks but I think you would agree.... they don't float our boat.

Hoot, I don't know why you think the Dmax is hard to service? It is no harder than any other truck made in the last 10 years. What kind of curb stops were you trying to hop? Maybe those 24" tall concrete ones in the median of the interstate? :D Seriously, I haven't found the little 4-6" curb stops to be much more than a bump. True, the ford and dodge 4x4's stand up higher, but this also makes them harder to get in and out of, plus makes them more prone to roll overs in high speed manuvers. Besides, I bought a 2WD. The GM 2WD's have the same stance as the GM 4x4's. However, ford and dodge 2WD's drag their nose's about 6" above the ground.

BTW, my list is getting longer!

Comparing the two, the Dodge is easier. Fuel, oil filters are easier and cleaner to replace. No big deal. There is a lot more room under the hood of the Dodge. Doing the mods to the front end I found it really easy to work on. Again no big deal but it is helpful.

Don't take my BS too seriously but at the same time I'm not making stuff up either.

Very different trucks. Had both.

I have both, and aside from ball joints and front tires every 50k, the Dodge is a great truck. Of course, it's an HO 6 spd. The Dodge and '04 GMC (both duallies) are set up with utility bodies, and the GMC is a LOT nicer to work out of. Much easier loading, unloading. But nothing beats the Dodge's stance in traffic. Never had a Ford, so can't vouch for them...
