First my truck is an 05 LLY / ZF-6, and i had the edge w/ attitude installed. I was on my way to NYC, and about 4 or 5 hours in i would feel a surge or miss (hard to explain), Seemed to only do it when boost read around 12 to 14 psi (maybe means nothing just what i noticed), and eventually the check engine light came on. I thought it might be the clutch, but i ruled that out because if i floored it, it would stop for a few moments. tried bumping edge to different power levels and such, and nothing worked. I finally disconnected to edge and the surging stopped, however the motor seemed to be louder at highway cruising (around 2400 RPM). Truck was parked for three days, while i was in the city. When i came back and started it, no check engine light. Engine still now and on the way home seemed louder. Finally just got the codes read and there were 8. I believe it was something to do with insufficient injector flow for all 8 injectors. I am not at home now so i only had the codes read i couldnt leave the truck. Again, the codes are no longer present, only thing, engine seems louder. Also, i have not tried to reinstall the edge.

Anyone have any idea what is going on. I thought maybe bad fuel, or something, or even a plugged fuel filter, and the edge just magnified it. Anyone think that might be it? If not what could it be? I dont think its the edge, since the engine seems louder, i think the edge just magnifies it.

Possibly Injector Output circuit error for all 8 inj. I've seen this before. Not sure how I tripped it, but it was in there. No problems, just codes and no SES light that I saw.

Yeah, I just got four injector output codes today. Took the edge off before going in (my buddy's dad was the mechanic) and immediately it was brought to the service manager's attention that I had a "computer" but he was totally cool. Said he wouldn't say anything about it, but wants me to leave it off for a while, till the new seal for the powersteering pump comes in and then will check for codes again. Truck runs good w/o edge and definitely is louder than when it was on. I am at a loss for that one.

Run FP (Fuel Power) to keep injectors clean and keep entire fuel system clean. www.lubecontrol.com

How did they know you had a computer......they should have not been able to tell that unless you left the box under the hood.

he said he has the attitude monitor- which is in the cab, probably how they knew.

The mechanic (my buddy's dad) knew I had it, and wanted to make sure it was disconnected, so he asked me in front of the service manager if it was still plugged in. Everything was out, including the monitor. But assured me it was no big deal. The service manager himself said he didn't think the Edge was the cause.

Big Angry,

What was the problem with your truck or is it still being diagnosed? I have same problem with the four output circuits.

Thanks,
Dennis

No word yet. The cleared them, and reset the speedo, but it went the next day, so I went back, had it cleared again (speedo), they ordered me a new cluster and told me the injector codes hadn't come back. (It was only a 24 hour period though. He told me it happened within 695 miles, and the edge had been on for over 10k miles. So, they weren't real sure. When I go back for the cluster and the new seal in my Power steering pump, I will have them check it again and see what they think may have caused it.

FWIW, the edge quiets the truck down. I can always tell when I've reached 180, it goes silent.
