Usually when your shocks go bad, you can push down on your vehicle and it will bounce a couple times, well you cant exactly push the bed of a 1 ton down and watch to see if it bounces. Lately, I've noticed that when I go over railroad tracks or hit little bumps the back end of the truck doesnt bounce but it hits real hard...do I need new shocks?

Also I looked at the front A-arms and noticed that the bumpstops are hitting. On my old 88 2500 I installed new shocks about 3 months ago and the bumpstops are not hitting the A-arms. I'm new to owning and driving a 1 ton, does any of this sound right? I'm thinking that i need new shocks all the way around and that the front A-arms should not be hitting the bumpstops.

Any ideas?

we have almost the same exact truck, mine white, lts.the front bump stops are normal and ok.they are suppose to be almost or barely touching.

the rear axel does kick you in the ass over the tracks, and on the brakes on bumpy roads, and streets. gm did not think they needed a sway bar, thier wrong.

does the truck at either end continue to bounce after hitting the bigger bumps.how many miles on the truck? are the shocks oem looking?

The shocks on my 01 were frozen solid. When I took them out I tried to compress them and they would not compress. Put in monroe reflex shocks, what an improvement.

I totally agree with you on the rear axle...it does kick me in the ass. The truck doesnt bounce at all...now if you hit a pretty big bump it will bounce like once...but thats it. The truck has a little of 118K. The shocks, they look oem, but didnt get that close at looking at em. I can check tonight.

I was looking at shocks the other day and considered those. It was either a toss up with those or the rancho shocks.

i tend to like kyb,and bilstein's but, they usually cost a little more.
