after several months of hinting, my wife gave me a Predator for Christmas :ro) ... read the directions immediately and found them something less than helpful when it come to monitoring injectors ..:confused: .. would sure appreciate some of you fellows giving me: 1) a step by step guide to using it to check my injectors, 2) info on what range of readings is OK and when should I start getting concerned, 3) what else should I use it to monitor and how do I do it! ... please note, instructions need to be written for a technologically challenged person ):h

There has been discussion about balance rates in the LB7 forum, and likely ask the Techs. Basically, look far any that are over 3mm3 positive or negative. GM won't fret at 3 yet, but a good set will be under 3mm deviation from 0.

JEBar,

Below is some information that I have posted previously. I have gathered it into one post for you to use with your new "toy". Hope it helps you to check your balance rates.

Step1 - Initialize Your Predator<o =""></o>

With your engine running and the Predator plugged into the data port do the following:<o =""></o>

From Main Menu:<o =""></o>
Select Diagnostics<o =""></o>
Then Select Auto Tranny<o =""></o>
Then Select Real Time Data<o =""></o>
Then Select Engine Data<o =""></o>
Then Select Engine Data 2<o =""></o>
Now scroll down about 12 data fields. This should center all eight Balance Rate data fields on the screen.<o =""></o>

<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]--><o =""></o>

Step 2 - Balance Rate Measurement<o =""></o>

From the Helms Service manual:<o =""></o>
1. Start and run the engine until the engine coolant temperature is more than 82°C (180°F). <o =""></o>

2. Turn OFF all accessories (A/C etc). <o =""></o>

3. Hold the brake pedal in the fully applied position. A hiss will be noticeable when the brake is fully applied. <o =""></o>

4. Place the transmission in Drive. <o =""></o>

5. Idle the engine for more than 30 seconds.<o =""></o>

6. Record the Balancing Rate Cyl.1-8 parameters from the scan tool while the engine is at idle speed. <o =""></o>

7. Repeat steps 2-6 with the transmission in Neutral. <o =""></o>
<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]--><o =""></o>

Are all of the Balancing Rate parameters within the first specified range in Drive, and the second specified range in Neutral?<o =""></o>

Specificed Range:<o =""></o>

Between: -6 mm³ and +6 mm³ - Drive Range<o =""></o>

Between: -4 mm³ and +4 mm³ - Neutral Range <o =""></o>

<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]--><o =""></o>

Reference Material:<o =""></o>

A List of Real-Time Data Parameters Monitored can be obtained at this link:<o =""></o><o =""></o>
