How can I install one on my project? Better yet. How could I adapt the in dash gas tach on my 93 body?

Has anyone delt with the tiny tach for diesel engines?

I've got a tiny tach on my tacoma. works good except for the 2.5 second delay. (the diesel is 1 sec or less)

Use the alternator to drive a tach. I have a DATCON in my rig, nice big tach, mounted in a metal box painted black, right in front of the t-case shifter on the hump.
Other truckj has an isspro setup, uses a mag on the front pulley. Don't like it at all.
You can also use soem kind of opto trigger device, and paint the front pulley. It will drive a regualr tach just fine.

The alternator has to be set up for a tach, a wire has to be run from something inside(one set of windings, I think) to the outside of the alt. Any good rebuilder could help you out.
