My new 2500 miles driven LLY begins to drone at 1500 RPM with a peak at 1800 RPM. After that its quiet as usual. That was not the case when is was brand new.
Does the engine just brake in and it will go away eventually or should I look for something loose like exhaust, turbo...or a crack? Its becoming annoying....sounds almost like the old 7.3 Powerstroke I have driven for a short testdrive before I bought the DMAX.
In the beginning it sounded like a fan noise or intake damper noise but thats not it.
Thanks for your input as always

MERRY CHRISTMAS to everybody

....going to ignite a candle for the thousands unfortunate accross asia

I posted a thread about this a while back. Mine does the same thing. In normal driving it sounds like a resonance "moan" or "Humm" between 55MPH and 63MPH and goes away once the TQ converter disengages. Dealer diagnosed it as normal. Others here with '05's have complained about the same thing. I'm curious if it will change once I add my programmer.

Would be nice if its going away! Its exactly like you said between 55 - 63 miles/h. Cant accept thats normal on a 48 k truck though. I also don't understand why it did not appear when the truck was new.
Thanks!

Yeah mine does the same thing. It does it right at 60mph below or above it, it goes away. It's done it since I drove it off the lot with 4 miles on it.

What I don't undrstand is .......what changed?? Our '05's are basically the same as an 2004.5 LLY but why aren't these trucks doing it (I haven't heard any owners complaining about it)? I wonder if the "reflash" changed something?

Maybe also one one the '05 owners that have a power tuner installed will chime in and see if that make a difference. I agree, it is annoying!
