Just wanted to say it is a very nice head, completely integrated XM so all you do is add the antennae(which is an internal mount). Avoids having to have factory set up plus additional Delphi set up. Looks very good where the old head resided. XM radio is awesome. No more babbling public radio DJ's talkin about Viagra, condoms and getting drunk in the clubs.....:ro)

I just checked the specs on this unit on Alpine's site. While it is nice, there is a trade off, you lose a bunch of features compared to other Alpine units. This thing doesn't play MP3s according to the specs, that's not something I would want to give up among other things. I've wondered for a while why this isn't already a common thing. You can bet there will be plenty more HUs hitting the market with XM in them. I'd stick wit an external tuner for now. I'd bet on this being the next big thing, but it will take some time for more options and features to hit the market...
Just my opinion...

Had an Alpine with the separate tuner in my other truck (2002 HD) and loved it. Replaced the speakers with Alpine SPR-176A separates and it sounded great. Funny thing is I almost hardly listen to music anymore especially w/ cahennel 150 and 202.

Will post install Pics soon. Heading to snow to ice fish.
I agree with Blueox03, There is always some trade off. I guess what I should have stated was for the cost it is a very nice set up. Like anything on this planet, money can buy you the best with the most. Was the same ideal while I was Drag Racing. "How fast you want to go depends on how much money you have and want to spend". Going with 2 separate tuners was just as much money when all was said and done but then you had to manage both and that was just something I was not wanting to do. Just wanted a simple set up that looked nice and had XM radio integrated without adding all the other supporting modulator gear and so on.

GMC 2002 DMax: For now stock speakers. Sounds good but does not use the tuner to its full capability. Speakers will be next. I have heard that the new 04 and up trucks with the Bose system have much better speakers than the ones that came with mine in 01. Will compare. I can get a set of those for free, but want to compare some aftermarket speakers. I am not a sound afficiondo or require some super set up. Just your average listener with children with me. Like having Comedy channel and few others.

One thing I didn't mention that is pretty cool is that this HU can be hooked to and control an iPod...sweet.

Duramax dually just a heads up, the front bose speakers are 2ohm, if you hook them to this HU it will fry it...you're better off with some less expensive aftermarket speakers...
