I have been looking at tires and all I see are people who are running the BFG AT tire around here. I get opinions from those people all the time and I like them. However:

Here is what I want to know. All of you guys running the NITTO TERRA GRAPPLER and the YOKOHAMA GEOLANDER A/T II, please chime in with your comments on these tires. I have seen some running around and I know I like the Nitto, just need more info on the Geolander. I know one person who runs them on his truck and they look nice. Just looking for info on mileage and driveability and any issues that may have come up along the way....

Also, I DO NOT, and I repeat DO NOT WANT INFO ON THE REVOS.. .. I am not buying those, not even considering it or thinking about it....

i got BFG's but i wanted nittos, they didn't have the size i wanted. I have friends running nittos and they love them. i don't know how many miles you get out of then because he only has 12,000 miles on them so far and they look really good.

I HAVE A FEW BUDDIES RUNNING THE GEOLANDER A/T. A 1/2 TON SILVERADO 4X4, F250 4X4, AND A 2X4 1/2 TON DODGE. ALL HAVE NO COMPLAINTS. GREAT SNOW TRACTION AND EXCELLENT WEAR, MUCH BETTER THAN MY BFG ALL TERRAINS. WWW.SUMMITRACING.COM HAS ABOUT THE BEST PRICE I'VE SEEN.

I have run Geolanders on my S10 Blazer and was very happy with them........I also had a set on my 2002 on M&T Classics 16x8 rims........I will say I like the Pro-Comps I have now better than the Yoko's.

Well I am thinking about running the Nitto's, just need to find more feedback about them. Some people are running them and having great luck while others are having balancing issues and warping tire problems. Not sure which way to go at this point. I can always get the BFG's and be done with it, but everyone is running those and I try not to be a follower.... Just need more input. Hopefully some others will chime in on their use of tires....

I dont know of anybody getting good mileage out of Nitto's... But they work nice when they have tread. Seem to wear to fast

The Nittos are great tires, but as Eric said they wear real fast. Don't know how they would hold up on a stock truck, but they wore too fast for my liking.

Well I have heard that about those tires and about the Geolanders too. I know that the BFG's will wear nicely as they are rated for heavier trucks. Hopefully more people will read this and post about their experiences...

Bfg's Are Definitley The Best Looking A/t Tire Out There, But I Will Only Get About 40k Out Of Mine. Not Real Good, Considering 285's Go For About $180 Apiece.

I've only had my geolanders on for 3K miles now so no comment on the wear. They have much better traction than my stock tires did though and they ride and drive really nice. Mine are 285/75-r16's and they're siped.

Take a look at the Toyo Open Country A/T's. They come with a 500 mile/45 day test drive so you can make up your own mind. Saved several $$ over the Revo's that I was going to buy.:)

I have installed the Nitto's. They look good and ride nicely so far. I can't report mileage yet because I only have 300 miles on em. They still have the tits. They were expensive in my size though. about 250 dollars each. Size in sig. The dealer that sold em to me had them on his truck with 18k miles on them and they looked new still.

Can you post a picture of your truck with these tires on it please so I can see what they look like on a truck?....

Go with with the BFG's stay away from the Nitto's I only got about 15000 out of them and they just ball up in the mud. Just my .02

I have 11,000 on my Nittos (mostly highway) and they look to still be good for more than that. I'll probably get 30K out of them. They aren't the greatest in the mud, but they also aren't too noisy on the highway. I can live with their mud traction since I spend 95% of my time on the highway or dry ranch roads. When these are gone, I'll be buying Toyo's (basically the same tire) because that is what the local guy sells.

I run the 285 Geolanders on my HD and I am very impressed wit them. Not only do they look good but they have excellent traction in wet/snow/mud. They have one of the most aggressive AT treads you can find. I have 20K on them and the wear is going great. They are also a quiet tire for such an aggressive tread. I'm not a big fan of BFG's mainly because they are over priced IMO ($180-$200/tire). I couldn't be happier with the Yokohamas and at $130/tire including m/b and hazzard out the door they are a much better deal IMO. I will have the same dilema as you when it is time for new tires....Geolanders or Nittos???

I had the yokoham's on my 1/2 ton and liked em really well. think I got em for 102 or something like that from tire rack. did really well in the snow. Now running dunlop radial rover RT's. I was thinking of going back to yoko's but my budy worked for wingfoot and I got a good deal and liked running an american tire. I really like the dunlops. The dunlops can be had for 130 or so from tire rack

BFG's big negatives are a french owned company and they are expensive. seem to be good tires just overpriced IMO.

You've seen my Yokos. I barely got 30K miles from my first set. Looks like this set will be about the same, or a little less. Only reason I got a second set was Discount Tire had told me I would get 50K out of the first set, so the charged me very little for the second set. I will not get a third set next time.

Traction and noise are good, though!

Of course, my truck weighs just a smidge more than yours, what with the front end replacement, the rear bumper replacement, the extra fuel tank, long bed, etc. My 5th wheel is not very light either, and I do put on a few miles pulling it as well.

Well I am going to run the Toyo Open Country tires... Found an awesome price since my brother is a Toyo dealer for race car tires, so that helped alot... Should have them in about a week...

I've been running the Nitto's for about 2 years now. I've go over 30K on them, and still don't have a single complaint. They ride fantastic, are about as quiet an AT-style of tire as you'll find and they handle great (wet, dry, snow). Mine have only been balanced one time; when they were installed -- and they still are as smooth as day one.

Let us know how you like them. I am leaning toward the Toyo or the Revos but I have read a few negative reviews on the Revos from the Tire Rack...

I changed my tires out new for Mickey Thompson MTX's, they lasted about 40K changed them out for winter, they would have been fine for the summer. I put on nitto's and have about 15K on them. They are extremely smooth, and wearing good. They are not quite as good as the mickey's in the mud, but are quiter on the road. Snow, wet, ice traction is awesome IMHO. I will get nittos again.

Between the two sets(changed at 200 miles), I TRIED a set of swamper Truxus muds. They are e rated for 285's and 10 ply. They were suppoed to be the smoothest swamper for guys looking for something other than MTR or BFG's. They were b!tchin tires, but the roughest dam tire I have every drove on.

I would recommend nittos's

I think you dmax owners forget the amount of hp/tq you have on tap. I think that leads to faster wear, god knows my mouse motor doesn't have that problem!!!

Jim are you running any power mods? You have had great luck with your Nittos as have I.....except in the wear catagory. I would really like to get another set for all the other reasons, and still may with the cheaper price I can get them for. Also what size are yours?

I have a set of 265 Nitto Terra Grapplers. They look nice, ride nice, for some reason negatively impact the mileage a little, and definitely do not wear good. I have about 15K on mine, and I'll be lucky to get another 10K out of them before replacing. BFG's next time around for me. Why doesn't BFG make 265E rated tires?

Well I have a new set of 285/75/16 Nittos mounted on some new rims. After all the indecision I went ahead with them again because of price. Hope they hold up better than my 265's did.

I just put 17" nittos on my truck replacing 285-16 bfg at's after about 1000 miles Tires appear to be wearing fine. Look great Suck in the mud! My bfg's pulled so much better in the mud but of course cost 40 to 50 bucks more each
Nitto's ride well and are quiet I've always had bfg's on all my trucks so this is an experiment So far so good

I have been running 285/70/17 for 35K. Lead foot, towed 6K at way excessive speeds for 4K. Will get 45-50k out of them. Quiet with good traction.
Will buy another set from Big Bear tire in Oconomowoc. (Great service and price)

Just went back and did some checking on past tire installs. On my previous set of 265 Toyo open/country's I got 22/K out of them. My current set of 265 Nittos look to go about 23/K. Have some new 285 Nittos on new rims yet to install...we shall see. With this power and weight combo I don't expect much, if any more.

I have 52,000 on my 98 k2500 (33x12.50x15.6) They held up incredibly well. Rotate them every 6k and they will outlast the Nittos by far. I doe love the way the Nittos look though.

Well here at the pics of the truck after the install. So far I have about 250 miles on them in 2 days and I like the way they ride and I like the fact they are quite. So far so good.

GMCK2500HD,

Let us know how these tires are on wet roads and in the mud if you can. I'm looking for tires this year, and need a good balance which includes keeping out of trouble in clayey farm fields.
