My 2002 D/A is setting the glow plug circuit DTC P0380. Both batteries were recently replaced and I initially thought the code may have been a result of the battery problems I had. I have cleared the code a couple times and it is still being set, although the SIS light has gone out a time or two, only to return a couple of starts later.
How should I go about troubleshooting the problem? Should I start with the glow plugs and check for opens? What process should I use to get to the root cause?
Thanks in advance,
Darrell

check the 175 amp fuse under the fuse panel box under hood. Check for power to glow plug module on back of drivers valve cover. Check it at the large red wire that is attatched with a nut under a rubber boot. If power is there, its glow plug relay or glow plugs or...

Did the dealer thing for the glow plug circuit since it is a warranted item. Dealer called me back to tell me the ECM was bad (energizing the relay all the time) and it needs to be replaced. The bad news was it will take 4 days to get one. Is that a typical delivery time for ECM's or is something else up?

My service rep called me with good news today. They got the ECM in faster than they had said(only took 2 days instead of 4) Got the new ECM and a new glow plug relay both installed under warranty. The info from the good people of this forum led me to ask for the warranty on the relay. Originally they had told me the ECM was covered but the glow plug relay wasn't covered and I would have to pay for that part. I asked them to double check the emissions warranty based on what I had read here. They found that it was covered and I'm a "grinnin' like a mule eatin' briars.":D
