We are putting on an AFE stage 2 intake and need to know how to remove the turbo silencer (air intake resevoir). There seems to be a torx head screw on the back that doesn't want to come off. We tried clamping on a pair of vice-grips to get some more leverage on the torx screwdriver but it doesn't want to budge.
Any advice?
Thanks

The intake enhanced the turbo noise a little bit. With the staight piped five inche exhaust we just installed you can really hear it. For those that wonder how loud a straight piped duramax is, the answer is LOUD! Sounds great though, in my opinion. I am very pleased.

Have you plowed with the straight piped exhaust on yet? Loud?

Nope, not yet. We have only had it on for a day and have not had any snow to plow all year.

I have plowed with 5" straight piped exhaust. Sounds great and I love it but its probably a good thing I stick to commercial and not residential, might piss off the customers;)

RyanG - sorry this is off topic but since you answered your own question, didnt think you would mind. what is your opinion of the goodyears on our trucks? how long have you had them and how are they wearing? in the market for new tires and i really like the looks of the goodyears. i have heard before that they dont last long, but havent talked to someone who had them on an HD. thanks.

We have a set of 265/75/R16 on our '95 Chevy K2500HD with 23,000 miles on them.
The set on the duramax (285/75/R16) only has 11,000 miles.
They seem to loose a lot of tread depth at first, but it gradually slows down.
I will post some pictures of the tires. The first one shows 0 miles on the duramax, the second one shows 11,000 miles on the duramax, and the third one shows 23,000 miles on the chevy.
Overall, I like the tires. They do great off road, they really grab. And they do decent on the road too. They make a little noise, but not too bad. They seem to get out of balance pretty quick, especially at first when loss of tread depth is high.
