I am looking for a good CB shop in Metro Chicago to help me install and recommend products.

I got for Christmas a Cobra 75wxst and a glass mount antenna. After looking around I dont' think the glass mount is the way to go at all. I'd like dual antennas mounted in the stake holes. I just want to do it right. No need in installing something that will not work well.

Thank you for the info and advice.

I'm not a expert but having 2 antennas closer than 8 feet apart degrades performance.
It's better just having one in a central location on the truck.
Most real truckers that are into Big CB power only have 1 antenna or may have 2 for looks but only one is hooked up.

This guy isn't far from The Windy City. He tunes my radio in my Freightliner. Ask for Steelrod personally. The guy is awesome with a radio and antenna.

It depends, actually. If you are running a Dipole rig (2 antennas) what happens is that you make the line of the antennas perpendicular to the line that you want best reception at. The radio waves end up richocheting off each other and reception at the recieving end is better, and you can transmit further. Side to side transmit capability is reduced.

I ran a dual whip setup for my CB for a while. It worked good in the lower 48 when I was primarily on the freeways, but offroad it sucked. I have since gone to a single 3" firestik antenna, and the other antenna although the same look, actually is a scanner antenna.

I believe 1 Stop Electronics is in that area. If not they are very honest and helpful and can be found online at www.1stopelectronics.com (http://www.1stopelectronics.com) . A very good place to buy equipment from and they provide great service after the deal.

Forget the dual antennas. They are not going to work well. You can use the stake mount but use a Wilson or Firestick omni antenna.
