Help, my "04 DMax glow plug controller is staying on and uses up the batteries quick! Where should I start looking to find the culprit? I'm a fairly good mechanic, just not a diesel mechanic.
Thanks in advance,

LB7 or LLY? CA or Federal emissions?

Isn't it under warranty? A few of them have had faulty glow plug controllers.
To find out if you have a LB7 or an LLY look at your 8th digit of you VIN. 1=LB7 2=LLY

I'm starting over, wrong truck.
2002 8th VIN digit "1" 49,490 miles.
There are two DMax's in the "fleet".

One of two things is going on. Either the relay is sticking and holding the glow plugs on or there is something wrong with the ECM and it is telling the glow plug relay to hold the glow plugs on.
Does it do it with the key off as well? If so it is likely the relay.
If it is holding the glow plugs on even when the key is off you should probably disconnect the negative battery cables until you get it fixed.
You could also disconnect the 175amp fuse in the fuse block or discconect the glow plug relay. Make sure you don't short anything out to ground when you are disconnecting the glow plug relay.

Thanks, that gives me a great place from which to start!
