The day after I purchased the truck, went to back up and- NOTHING!
After a few seconds in went into gear. Took it to the dealer and of course nothing was found. 16,000 miles later a second time for no reverse, back to the dealer and found fluid was low and also told me it was on the dark side. They also said it gave them a code but they need to investigate it. Would low fluid cause this condition?

This is the Allison Drain back TSB. Its intermittent and hard to duplicate at the dealer. Print the TSB and go to the dealer with it. Click on the links below for the info.

Low fluid will inhibit reverse. A stored code can do the same thing. Find out what that code is and post it here.
