So i have a stock straight piped LB7 with a K&N and i heard that you should let the turbo cool down before you turned the truck off. I don't have a pyro but with a stock truck should i invest in a ATS turbo timer? Or after i upgrade it?

If you're going to upgrade your truck (by this I am guessing you mean up the power) then you're going to need guages anyway, mind as well just wait. I have a turbo timer on my Cummins and I have'nt used it in years. You get so used to knowing when when it's time to turn off your truck that you just forget about using the timer. That and with the use of a good synthetic oil there is hardly any chance of coking a turbo anyway.

Usually if your driving normal there's no need to let it cool down, egt's will show about 3.5k. If your driving really hard right to the time you park it, let it idle for about 30 seconds, that should bring the temps down enough, as the egt'd go down pretty fast.
If you want some peace of mind, whether stock, or modded, get a pyro, and boost gague set up, check out Dieselmanor, they have everything you need in the way of gagues, mounts and anything else related to them....:D

You only need a turbo timer when your truck pulling or pulling heavy loads, or if you got it turned way up. Even then as said abouve you can just wait 30 seconds or so

Save your money, no need for one a modern light duty truck engine, invest in regular oil changes and enjoy your truck...

when installed my remote start it had a built in "turbo timer" basically when you park your truck you would hit the start button while the truck was still on. remove the key and walk away. the truck would idle for 2 mins then shut down.
ive used it a few times just to see if it would work. other than that i usually wait for my truck to get to 335 eg temp b4 i shut it off. approx a min or 2 after highway driving.

The main reason for a turbo cool down is to prevent the oil in the bearing from "coking". Not a problem with the LB7 turbo bearing since it's cooled by engine coolant .. However, if you don't have an EGT gauge, idling a little after a hard run is good practice..
