Hey guys,

I have a 2004 Chevy CC duramax/allison 4x4. Yesterday we received about 4" of ice. On the way home I ran the heat on the highest setting I could to keep the windows from icing back up. This morning I went out to start/defrost my truck and let it run for about 35-40 minutes and I noticed that the windows hadn't started to defrost so I sat in the truck and noticed that the fans for the heat were not blowing. I turned the heat system off and back on. Now it will only turn on the display for about 15 seconds and then it will turn itself off. Can someone please help me because I need to drive to work today to hand out bonuses to our employees. Thanks.

Start it up again and cycle the control from defrost to vent a few times with the fan switch on high. move it slowly, stopping at each icon for 8-10 seconds. What your doing here is seeing if the fan works at any of the positions, andit takes a bit for the plenum to move to a new position and the fan to blow. If nothing, try again with the engine off and the key in "Run". I'm guessing that maybe you got some water inside and something is frozen up. Can you hear any noise from the fan at all? May also be an electrical fart or a blown fuse.

Diesel's Run on heat. To warm up my truck faster and provide heat, Turn all climate controls off. and allow truck to warm up... then enter the truck and turn on the defrost. If i start my truck in the morning and allow it to idle for 15 minutes with the controls turned to max heat and defrost....I find there is no heat at all from the vents as you are removing heat from the coolant (with the outside air across the heater core) faster than the idling engine can generate it.

Thanks guys. I finally got the heater motor to start blowing. Once the sun got on the truck for a few hours to warm up the truck and I let the motor run for about an hour and it finally started working. Thanks again!

Please do not post this topic in the 911 forum. i am moving it to the regular duramax forum. the 911 forum is reserved for true emergencies when the truck is not running.

Thank you

Diesels are lousy heat builders with out a load.Putting on a Winter Front cover will help but when it's cold enough mine will start to cool off when I idle after getting to full temp with cover in place.

Best to plug block heater in and give coolant a jump start also.
