Has anyone used the do it yourself kit? Just wondering if there's any pointers out there. I am thinking about doing the sides about 6-inches up. The local place up here in Fairbanks wants over a grand.

i wouldnt do it... i have rhino liner on the underside of my truck and in my bed. The stuff starts to peel up and fades easy. in fact the tail gate of the truck liner came off and the under body that was sprayed is starting to peel. I just bought my truck used a year ago and since the lifetime gurantee doesnt transfer they wouldnt even give me a deal. But i have also heard that rhino liner has gotten better since 02... just my two cents worth

Had Rhino on my swim platform and it pealed in less than a year re-sprayed with Spray-On when I sold the boat four years later it was still in perfect shape. Definitely don't use Rhino.

I guess I wouldn't be using Rhino Liner I would be using the Herculiner Kit. Anyone recommend it or not?

The Do-It-Yourself bedliner kits like Herculiner, Durabak, Duplicolor, etc. are not the same sort of products as the professional stuff and the DIY products are not as durable and are not less expensive .

Specifically, Herculiner is 28% solvents (according to Herculiner's MSDS) which evaporate away. So, if you buy one gallon, you end up with only about 2/3 of a gallon of product actually on the truck bed. Professionals (such as LINE-X) spray about 4 to 4.5 gallons of product (all solids, no solvents) into the bed. Herculiner costs about $100 for a one-gallon kit. So, to get 4.5 gallons of Herculiner, you will have to spend about $600. You will also need paper, masking tape, sandpaper, acetone, gloves, and about two days of time. Herculiner = no warranty; LINE-X (and some others) = Lifetime warranty.

Its only a lifetime warranty for the owners of the vehicle at the time of application... if one buys a vehicle with it on, they will not back it up in any sort of way... i know this cause i have tried it and they would only give me 50 dollars off the retail price, and the liner was only a year and a half old... BS in my book

line-x here is $350 lifetime warranty. Rhino's only advantage is it's disadvantage. It is softer and tends not to let stuff slide in the bed but at the same time peels and tears easily. My 01 looked like crap after 3 years. The stuff in a can is a waste of money that could have been put twoard a professional job. $1000 is just insane!
