After having my driver's side rear axle seal replaced - it is leaking around the flange. The dealer said that this doesn't have a torque spec - but everything has a torque spec. (doesn't it?). Anybody know what the torque should be for these bolts?. I need to have another go at it with a bigger torque wrench.

thanks,
jeff

They have thread locker on the bolts from the factory too.

My left rear axle is leaking as well.:o: I scheduled a service at the dealer to have it repaired. Someone else mentioned to me that they had the same problem and they just retorqued the bolts on the flange. Is the flange the center cap with about 6-8 bolts in it?

Is that advisable? My concern is once the grease has penetrated the seal it may continue to leak. It's coming out at a pretty fast rate from I can tell. I'm running 75w140 GM synthetic.

I also read that I should check the vent line. Is it on top of the axle? JJ :)
