cjwilliams72 12-13-2007, 08:19 PM i seached summit they had a few but they were well over 200 and i haven't alot to spend
so still looking anyone else got anything
edzzed 12-13-2007, 08:23 PM princess auto (canada) sells a boost / vacuum gauge for 20 bucks or so, i have one and it works fine. heath did a t/m on mine and set it by measuring the spring length o begin with. when bill and i went for a drive i watched the gauge and sure enough it was accurate and the t/m needed no further adjustments. Ed
96GMC6.5L 12-13-2007, 08:29 PM I didn't think 200 for a boost, pyro, and pod was too bad, but I don't know how much you are willing to spend.
will92104 12-13-2007, 08:33 PM Autozone has pretty good prices on the guages they sell. I didn't see a pyro guage there so you could check other auto part stores. The boost guage i got at autozone works pretty good, even has a pretty blue light at night.
midniteplowboyy 12-13-2007, 09:02 PM You might try a big truck salvage yard.
95ChevYTurbO 12-13-2007, 09:54 PM yeah summit has parts for everything but they charge a lot...ebay is the place to go
cjwilliams72 12-13-2007, 10:12 PM im there now found a good deal on a whole set pillar pod and all but there for a ford
If my truck had 410,000 miles on it, i wouldn't touch a thing, I would be scared it would tear up as soon as i did anything to it!!:D:D:D:D
I bought VDO gauges with a autometer pod from summit racing, shipped to my door for 150 bucks
michaeljp86 12-13-2007, 10:46 PM I to have been looking for the 3 gauges, I would like to spend as little as possible. I been watching ebay for a few months now and havent came across anything.
98z71keith 12-14-2007, 08:10 PM I have glowshift guages. they are cheap and you get what u pay for. I bought a pod and boost and pyro and tranny temp for around $250 CND. the tranny and boost work great, just the Pyro is poor, the needle gets stuck in certain spots and makes it pretty much useless, oh and this began the second time I went to drive my truck since installing them. I spent money returning it (included a cd with videos of what it does) and they sent it back with a new sensor, but thats not the problem hence the video I sent them!!! Check out my pics in the garage, and if you need I did a detailed write up on how to install tranny temp guage.
I went to Diesel Manor: http://www.dieselmanor.com/, which is a vendor/DP.com sponsor. They had really good deals. Look at their ISSPro gauge packages. I'm all about finding great deals, but if a sight sponsor is in the same ballpark, I'll buy from them- even if they are a little more money. In the long run, purchasing from the DP.com sponsors helps keep all this great (free!) information online, and I cannot even put a price tag on that. The bottom line: people on here give generously, but running a website like this must cost a decent amount.
Also, the customer service was excellent. I had to call outside business hours on a Saturday, and the technical person answered the hotline right away. Can't beat that!

i drive it like i stole it. :D:D:D
when i got the truck it had alot of miles already on it, i thought it was on its last leg then and that was 3 years ago, In the first year i had it it stalled for a month or two and then died and never started again. A friend who owed me a favor towed it to his shop and later told me it needed a new ip. after $1500 and some pulled hair my truck was back and ran better than ever,, Finally a couple of months ago it started doing it again(stalling), thats when the great people here inlightned me and i now know about THE PMD, i sure thank everyone here for there advice...
as far as scared it will die no , will just have to drive the gaser and start with my upgrades and a lower milage engine
still drive it like you stole it.......:D:D:D:D:D
WhiteK2500 12-16-2007, 05:14 AM I don't like to cheap out when it comes to my truck, but I also don't like to over pay. I believe in, you get what you pay for, and Autometer is one of the best names in gauges and at that price shipped to your door, that's damn good...
Just remember, you can't kill your vehicle with kindness!
WhiteK2500 12-16-2007, 05:21 AM i drive it like i stole it. :D:D:D
That's the best way to drive a 6.5, it's how I drive mine, as long as you don't abuse it, a hard worked 6.5 will last MUCH longer then a babied one, The 6.5 is called a high speed diesel for a reason.... SO KEEP THOSE RPM'S UP! I try not to keep a low sustained rpm for too long, they like getting hot and in turn that burns out the carbon... You gotta remember Diesel is an oily fuel, and if you don't get the egt's hot, it'll pretty much choak the engine, and the crank will fail. At the shop my friend owns, all the techs always say they see broken cranks because of low rpm lugging or chugging, not high rpms, they won't hurt a thing... Not even your wallet, the best fuel economy is between 1800 - 2200 rpm.
chrisk1500 12-16-2007, 09:32 AM piers diesel research has the best prices on ISSPRO gauges that I can find....
bud9899 12-16-2007, 07:35 PM I used VDO Vison series for a nice(not perfect) match to what's in the dash. I took out the storage cup under the AC controls in my 97 and mounted the 3 gauges there. Nice clean look, no hot rod looking stuff. I don't drive wide open so I don't live by them just use them when towing.
airwrench 12-16-2007, 10:01 PM I have a spare boost gauge if you still need one. It is new in box.. 0 to 15 reading . I have another just like it on my truck, it works fine.
Gauge, line fittings, and line - 60 bucks, plus whatever the shipping is.
cjwilliams72 12-16-2007, 10:30 PM White, Thanks for the info on the rpms,,makes me more confident in driving her fast,
I bought the truck 3 years ago i smoke like a frieght trane every where i went. It ran like crap and was as slow as a snail. After they put the new ip with new pmd it ran like a scalled dog, or at least compared to before,
After reseach and advice from DP (THANKS EVERYONE),
I have put a carb spring on the wastegate, left the vacum on. I modified a mazda cold air intake, and am planning to take the truck to a friends muffler shop and cut the muffler to the soot colector and replace with 4 inch pipe. Thats why i want the gauges worried i might burn it up with my heavy foot, but Everything Ive done has been cheap or free, no choice in that got three beautiful girls and they come first after bills, then truck .
was hoping to find a used set of gauges ):h
michaeljp86 12-16-2007, 11:42 PM was hoping to find a used set of gauges ):h
Ive been watching ebay for a used set since I bought my truck in the summer and still havent come across any.:(
cjwilliams72 12-17-2007, 06:49 PM Ive been watching ebay for a used set since I bought my truck in the summer and still havent come across any.:(
thats my luck, when i finally buy new ones there will be plenty of used ones, lol:D:D
WhiteK2500 12-17-2007, 10:03 PM Only thing I would worry about is what kind of boost that carb spring would be letting the turbo build before wastegate opens... That's the point of a boost and pyro gauge, is to keep you informed as to what's going on in your engine, the computer controled set up, doesn't require gauges cause the computer lets itself work everything out. A carb spring, won't let the wastegate open till an equal amount of pressure builds up... Just hope it's not too much.

Well hurry up and buy some new ones then. :D
It would be my luck that after you buy new ones and I buy new then there will be plenty of good used ones really cheap. :(

why would low temsp break the crank? i'm just curious because i know i need new t-stats, one's stuck open, and i'm ass out broke, and waiting for truck for tranny rebuild.

EGT's not coolant temps, but most people go to 180 degree Tstats, I have no problem with the 2 in mine, and I don't tow big things so I don't need my cooling system to start working 15 degrees sooner. And by low egt temps causing the crank to break, I mean that our exhaust ports can gum up with oily crud, engine can't breath, and you kill it. When you get it hot, you burn out all of that crap, and keep her clean.
High idle is for guys idling the trucks all day, all week long, so what I mentioned above doesn't happin, it keeps the truck in a higher rpm (Once again, 6.5 = high speed diesel, unlike a cummins) same idea when driving it, lug it around, and keep her in OD all day during stop and go traffic, doesn't get hot enough.
That's why I drive mine like I stole it and keep it out of OD unless I'm on the highway.
