After some snow this week and having my O5 cc lly in 4 wheel a little, I know have a loud clunk when I pull in the driveway(my curb is not cut, so there is a decent size bump).

I have read about steering column issues is this one of something else.

I have 265 BFG All terrains on.

Thanks

Maybe..........ISS (Intermediate Steering Shaft)................is this the first you've noticed the noise? Were you in 4wd when you steered into the driveway? If so, when turning tightly like that, the wheels aren't turning the same from inside to outside, and may have been the suspension releasing............I've heard that several times too.

Thanks

The first time I heard it I was in 4wd, but the last few times I haven't been. On my way home I will do some tight turns in the parking lot to see if I get the same noise.

My '05 would do this to the point of frustration (added by the fact that the dealer was totally useless with the solution)........anyway. Here's when I'd hear it: backing out of a space while turning my steering wheel clockwise (almost to the lock)..........try that a couple times and listen. BTW, my '08 doesn't have the prob (yet).

My 03 reg cab LB7 makes that same clunk noise when im backing up and going hard over counter clockwise and clock wise. Ive had it in the shop to see if they could find it but no dice. So i went and had it aligned and it holds the alignment fine. Been in and out of 4 high 4 low doesnt matter, no differences, the same sound in the same position. The only thing I notice is that since I got the truck under 32000 miles it seemed "looser" in the steering than my 01 HD gasser was. And still feels the same after the alignment. If just decided to keep drivin it like it spose to be drivin and wait till it breaks.

Same noise here. Can't seem to figure out what it is. I thought at first it was the cognito leveling kit's parts that were making the noise.

I've got the same issue. I never noticed it on dry pavement, but when I'm backing up in 2wd in snow or on ice and I have the wheels turned almost fully in either direction it will feel like it is binding up and then releasing again. It feels almost like it's still in 4wd. I'm anxiously awaiting to see if anyone has a solution to this.

There have been cases of the front body mounts popping. I can find the TSB, but I know it involved shims and, possibly, new mounting rubber.

my 03 had bad shock mounts, and i had to replace the front shocks, similar problem.

Well since most of the snow has melted and the bump is less at the front of my driveway the noise has gone away. We a due for another batch of snow this weekend, I will be interested to see if it comes back.

Thanks for all the reply s
