my truck does NOT have the DIC with the buttons on the steering wheel and all that. when i start the truck, the little display normally shows "driver 1" (still dont understand that since i cant program other drivers) then shows odometer/trip. starting last week, i get the message "change engine oil" when i crank it. i assume this is a mileage triggered message and not sensor based. i have put about 7,000 miles on the truck since i bought it and this is the first time the message has shown up (awfully long service interval).

anybody know how to clear the message?? the manual says to reset the GM oil life indicator, just push the select button when it is displayed. i tried pushing the odometer knob when its displayed on startup but that doesnt work. surely some of yall dont have the fancy DIC? thanks for the help!

Not sure if the 03's are the same as an 01 but this is how I reset mine. Turn the ignition key to the on position but don't start it. Depress the accelerator pedal to the floor 3 times within 5 seconds. Message should disappear. Then turn key off again. Should be OK after that.

After pressing accelerator 3 times it should flash change engine oil message like 5-6 times to alert you that its been reset.
