: Turbo bark normal with Edge?

Just installed the Edge/Attiude on my '05 GMC LLY. Did anyone have this problem with their new Edge? It's set on #3 Drive. Great power, but is this going to hurt the engine? I say turbo bark (feels like a quick surge), but doesen't seem right. Nice power thus far. Not quite what I was looking for in the low end. Maybe this will get better in time. The truck has 1300 miles on it now.

I know there is a "learning" period for the trans. but is there a learning period for the engine? Any settings that I should take into account?

Thanks for any replys

It seems to be pretty common with Edge/LLY combos, call Edge and complain, the more they hear about it the more likely they are to fix it.

Do u feel it or hear it.

Turbo bark is heard.

What defuel shift do u have set?
How much low fuel boost?

Get some miles on it so it loosens up will make a big improvement on power.

Yes I can feel it as a surge or a jurking motion. Not a good feeling! The defuel is set at defalt level. Was set a defalt level and then coming home tonight I set 5 (most reponsive).

If anyone has any offerings as to settings please post. The info is quite vague in the Edge manual (Something they could work on).

What is the best way to train the trans. what mode setting? If you train the trans. in mode #3 what does it do for the other modes?

Just some thoughts...

yeah, thats not a turbo bark. sounds like its more with the tuning on the Edge. Turbo Bark sounds like a loud cough coming back through your intake which isn't good either, but this doesn't sound like it.

I have he Edge, but not the attitude so I am no help there

good luck

if youre not hearing it cough than its something else, it might just be the truck learning though, its best to set it at a good level for you and drive it for a week in alot of conditions then see what happens, if its still there call edge and see if they can send you a new unit

Is the jerking or surge you are describing happening during the shifts?

How about fuel filter, even 1300 miles w/ bad fuel could cause problems.

I don't know if anyone on here is close but u could switch boxes w/ them and see if it still does it.

You know, I rode in Nate's truck and it barked like crazy when driven aggressively, but my 2005 has't barked yet regardless of what program/box I was running...

I think the barking has to do with the speed/harshness of the shift. A more crisp upshift, and it barks. Our owners 05 barked like crazy and gets flogged 100% of the time. I reset the TAPs and it quit barking...for a while.

Some trucks do it, some don't. Some Edge units do it, some don't.

This is all interesting information that you have given. What are some of the things I can do "Adjustments" to the edge that might help. I have set the defuel at 3 now. Is there something else that can help this truck with having the Edge programer? Like adding other aftermarket parts that would help altogether? I wont the best for my baby, so any input would be nice.

On another note: Bought the EGR blocker plate and Fingers stick, but can't find the EGR valve. I have read that it's by the engine oil dip stick. When I installed the EGS the other night while I had the fender skirt removed I didn't see the EGR. Am I looking in the wrong place? I don't have a manual for the truck so I go by what I read in this forum.
