Is the updated flash required with the updated LLY injectors? My dealer said they both work together. My dealer re-flashed my LLY, then 2 weeks later replaced all 8 injectors because they said there was a problem with them (I thought it ran fine with the old injectors). I lost a lot of power with the re-flash and am fighting with them to put the old flash back in (yes it can be done). But they say the old flash with the new injectors will make it run too rich, and may hydrolock a cylinder ( yeah, right! i'm not that dumb). So has anybody had new injectors replaced in their LLY WITHOUT the re-flash?

WOW, your dealer must have some real pull with some body.... LLY injectors are on restriction and just getting one requires two phone calls and a wait period, you want more then two and you get to talk to a DMAX field engineer, you get all 8 and you get a misdiagnosis. The LLY injectors are the same since they were released...

If your dealer is feeding you that much BS, your best bet is to find somebody else to service it..

I had a problem with "rough idle" when the engine wasn't at full temp. Originally they replaced all eight injectors (August) and the problem went away. When the reflash came out the dealer did it for me anyways. Since then I have noticed that the truck wants to go "like a bat out of hell" when it is at the temps I originally had problems with but at full temp it just feels like less.

We stock at least 1, and on Friday I ordered 4, got them on Tuesday, no questions asked.

In support of what Eric is saying about the availability of LLY injectors...
Info - Parts Restriction on Duramax Diesel Fuel Injectors #04-06-04-087 - (Dec 1, 2004)

</TABLE>Parts Restriction on Duramax™ Diesel Fuel Injectors
2004-2005 Chevrolet Silverado, Kodiak C4500/5500 Series

2004-2005 GMC Sierra, TopKick C4500/5500 Series

with 6.6L Duramax™ Diesel Engine (VIN 2 -- RPO LLY)

Important: This parts restriction program should not be confused with an earlier Duramax™ diesel (RPO LB7) restriction program. The earlier program corresponds with Corporate Bulletin Number 04-06-04-007C.

The Duramax™ diesel fuel injectors that are being returned have had a very high No Trouble Found (NTF) rate on the vehicles listed above. These injectors have been placed on a restriction program, effective November 15, 2004. This only involved one part number for the vehicle. Have your diesel technician do a thorough diagnosis, using Service Information (SI) procedures. Using the SI procedures can prevent the unnecessary replacement of components.

You must fill out the diagnostic worksheet found at the end of this bulletin prior to contacting the PQC.

The injectors in this restriction program will follow the normal Warranty Parts Center (WPC) parts return process, as outlined in Corporate Bulletin Number 99-00-89-019B (in Canada, Home Office Letter 1999-201). Please include the diagnostic worksheet with the injector when you return it to the WPC. DO NOT SHIP ANY PARTS TO THE WPC WITHOUT AN OFFICIAL WPC REQUEST.

I think my injectors were "ntf", because it ran fine before they replaced them. I think the dealer was being dishonest and trying to flag hours on this job under warranty. So I take it that the flash is NOT required with the injector replacement?

my understanding is that it isn't necessary unless you exhibit some of the problems related to "injector calibration". Things such as "rough idle", smoke, surge, ect. I had it done even though my truck was running great after the injectors were replaced. My feeling was that it was the latest software for my truck so why not. Microsoft has proven time and again the the latest isn't always the greatest though.

Maybe they let me order them because it was for a medium-duty? I haven't had any problems getting those injectors. Less paperwork is better if I can get away with it.

I don't know about Georgia but here in NY they have winter blends of gas and fuel. My milage has dropped a bit since the weather has changed.
