: First Impressions: Next level TTS tune for LLY's.

So far with my truck, I've run the TTS LLY Tow Tune, the LLY Edge w/Attitude, the Bully Dog LLY Power Pup, and the LLY Predator. The winner IMO so far out of those was the Predator. But... This new TTS tune is a contender.

First thing that comes to mind is SMOOTH. Much like the TTS Tow, the next level of the TTS LLY tune is very "stock feeling". Tip in is smooth but potent. Accelerator input is very linear. No bark, no hunting for gears. It does not smoke as hard as either the Edge on max fuel, or the Predator on 100. But SOTP acceleration is there in spades. Is it faster? Dunno yet.

Drivability in stop and go traffic was so-so with the Predator, it had a touchy throttle, and shifted at odd times, yet it is WAY better on my truck than the 120 Edge. But they aren't that big of problems. These minor inconveniences are non-existent with the TTS. Just like stock but more. One thing you can say about Steve's tunes is that they are very "friendly" tunes.

I will do additional testing in the near future, and will take it to the dragstrip next week. But so far, so good.

:ro)

Oh, and much like the Predator on 100, it will spin the tires on the 1-2 shift. Not bark, spin. So far, those are the only two tuners I've tested that will do that.

Ok now fill us in on this new tune, now I'm curious again
I thought I might just get the Predator and now I just might wait a little longer, might be worth it. I really like the sounds of it being smooth and stock feeling:D :ro)
Predator sounds great but the TTS tune could be better;)

Pat isn't here right now... But I drove the truck last night...My .02 it feels like stock except when I step on it...Then :ro) I drove the truck with the Predator last weekend for about 75 miles and I'm glad Pat warned me about it being twichy in traffic...I had no such problem last night:D

It's going to be my daily driver tune. The Predator is very good, but the TTS is better. You can't lose with either, but both will limp a stock trans if you race around. Both are more powerful the Edge.

Keep in mind this is a beta program, but IMO it's ready for public comsumption.

As always Steve will release it to a few for feedback and testing purposes and he will, I assume, compare the results on several different trucks first.

Only when he is 100% satisfied will it be offered........For Sale.....to the masses.......

He has been saying the release was late this year or early next year.......guys you need to be patient.........as always........the wait will be worth it..........

You guys that are waiting for performance better be upgrading tranny's or that power you so desire will be wasted on a stock Allison...........

Once this level of power is fully tested we will offer it to the public. The next level is already sitting in the wings but we need to find any and all problems with level 2 before we begin testing level 3. Rest assured we have not forgot the LLY power hungry nuts like us. Things are looking good on the LLY testing we have been doing for the past 6 months but you are still going to have to resolve issues with the fuel supply system and transmission to make things work properly. Next year expect us to release a larger transmission rebuild kit, the bigger LLY tunes, Duramax fuel supply kit and the PowerLoader III. Happy Holidays, see ya next year!

Will TTS make these tunes available in a plug and play or downloader type of box. Thanx Geo.

That's what he was saying with the Powerloader III.Uhmm,

I think the Level II he is talking about is the 120 tune or a similiar one for the LLY's to compare the LB7~120 Race in power.............Level III is IMHO an Xtreme like tune...........

GMC-2002-Dmax: Nope, the powerloader II is the current programmer he has out. Look at ttspowersystems.com and you will see the powerloader II. He said in another thread that when he gets the powerloader III done it will cover all the older trucks the II did and also the lly so you don't have to send him your ECM. The reason for sending the ecm right now is he doesn't yet have the parts to build the III or you could just get the programmer instead.

The PowerLoader III is the replacement for our current product. So once on line the PL III will be for everything we produce for the GM product line.

The PL III is for both the LB7 and LLY. To tell the truth it also works on all GM engines from 1996 to 2005. It also works on the Ford engines from 1994 - 2005. So it's a fairly robust design with alot of feature the others do not have.

Although of course you could still send the ecm and get the switchable deal on it if you wanted to I bet. Either way we still have a while to wait until he gets the 2nd and 3rd levels of lly performance all tested and decides to release them anyway...

Diesel Tech is talking about tunes...the LLY Tow tune was the biggest offered..........he is beta testing the next level of power..........if I read it correctly the big tune is waiting in the wings...........

I will stand corrected if I am wrong....but I think I read his post correctly

You are correct sir. As I understand it......The second level known as "Race" is being tested on a number of different trucks as we speak. The LLY "Xtreme" is waiting in the wings pending "Beta" completion of the "Race" tune.

"Ripped" from the TTS web site.............

Tow:
This program is designed for use with heavy towing applications and daily driving. The use of this program is intended for stock and un-modified vehicles that wish to have increased power without any further modifications needed. This program has been tested in extreme conditions in order to assure maximum reliability with no worries.
Race:
This program is designed for solo vehicle applications with no heavy loads or towing. A pyrometer is a must have in order to prevent engine damage from over heating when towing or hauling any loads. We suggest upgrades such as larger exhaust, intake kits and transmission shift kits. This program may damage other vehicle components such as transfer cases, differential, transmission, and certain intake pressure tubes.

Extreme:
This program is designed for maximum power. A pyrometer is a must have in order to prevent engine damage from over heating. Upgrades such as larger exhaust, intake kits, and upgraded driveline are required to insure reliability. This program will damage other vehicle components such as transfer cases, differential, transmission, and certain intake pressure tubes. Ok wait, I think I read something wrong.. I thought you said loader II and not level II. So everything I wrote about the powerloader still stands, but you are also correct about the different levels he is going to put into it.

My original post was responding to geo asking if the tunes would be available in a programmer. And I told him that the powerloader III will include them from what steve has said.
See where you quoted me and I said "powerloader III" and you said "level II"?
That's where we got off wrong because we were talking about 2 different things. I was talking about a programmer that would have tunes in it, which would include level II probably, and you were talking about tune levels.

Soooo... Basically we both typed a lot of crap because I said something and you quoted it as something else. Oh well at least it made us think a bit.
