Hello, 2nd post and new to Diesel and Chevy. I have figured out pretty much everything by reading through here and the manual, but have a couple questions that I didn't see addressed.

Is there a way to keep the AC on recycled air all the time? Everytime I shut down the engine and turn it back on, the air goes back to fresh. I prefer the recycled air when driving and it isn't much of a problem remembering to keep it switched back on, I was just hoping there was a way to keep it there until I change it back.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I don't think there is a way to keep it on all the time like you want, the salesman showed me this when I bought my truck, you have to keep switching it over manually, sometimes I forget myself.

This is one of the very few things I dislike about my truck. Why would its programming require outside air when I want full heat deflected to the floor? I can make no sense of it.

I wonder if you could just disconnect the "motor" that opens the fresh air door while it is in the closed position or put a switch on it

You could if you had the desire to rip apart the dash to get at the diverter flap. Believe it or not, this is a safety feature that's suppose to prevent toxic gases from building up in the passenger compartment.

It is set up like that for,for lack of a better description, air quality. The air would get really stale fast with out introducing outside air.

With out inducing outside air as a default, the windows would fog up due to the high humidity.

I keep mine on all day when driving - about 200 miles a day. The only time it is on fresh is the first few minutes when getting in and out. Air seems fine to me, but again I get in and out every hour or so. This is in Ca, so fogging up is only an issue when it rains or very cold. I just switched over to the Chevy after having a Titan for 6 months, I guess every manufacturer has its quirks.

Thanks for the replies!

I understand the fresh air philosophy completely. But keeping that in-mind, why can I choose to cut off the fresh air supply when I am discharging through the dash ducts only? The fresh air philosophy should still apply no matter where the discharge air is being directed. What does discharge air coming out at the floor have to do with mandating fresh air ?

I dont ever ever ever want the "fresh air" I have never ever had a vehicle that did this crap I have never used the fresh air option on the dash I guess I want the old stale air only this would have prevented me from buying a gmc if I had known

i wouldn't go as far as to say i wouldn't have purchased my truck because of this issue. But before this truck, i have never even turned on the exterior air funcion on my A/C, i always lefted it on recirculate. I think it's pretty sh**ty that GM set it up this way...

Who knows they may be able to reprogram it.
