In a week or 2 i am going to be installing a 6"inch pro comp lift with 315 75 BFG Mud-terrain KMII. Im not planning on doin much off roading, should i look into after market tie rods or tie rod sleeves just to be safe? I'm also looking for other suggestions so i dont run into any problems down the road, any help on any issue would be appreciated.
I have the 6" Pro Comp lift on my truck. Regardless of brand, I would definately recommend either FabTech tie rods or some kind of sleeve to be on the safe side. The Pro Comp replacement front crossmember utilizes heim type support brackets that will help keep your front end in check. I would also tell you to get the optional skid plate if you have the cash. It seems sturdy enough to help stabilize the crossmember. I also optioned for the rear traction bars. They seem to hang a little low, but I plan on going up to either a 37" or 38.5" tire with the Bushwacker cutout flares. Deaver springs seem to be the way to go, but at least with the blocks, I don't have wheel hop problems. The only thing I would have done differently is instead of using the drop torsion bar mounts that came with the kit, I would have used the drop brackets that keep the factory torsion bar mounts. They tuck up nicer over all, but I can't recall the name of the manufacturer. I set up a full 8 hour day using my friends lift to do the kit. It ended up taking most of two whole days. This was my first time doing this installation, but there was alot more fab work needed then I thought. Give yourself plenty of time. Good luck.
