I picked up one of the new lly fuel filters today and unsucessfully tried to install it. The center hole on the new one is 1" ID while the old style is 1 1/8" ID and it wouldn't fit over whatever the name of the thing that sticks into it. As a result the threads wouldn't engage. I applied a bit of pressure to see if it would slip on..but no luck.

I verified that my engine is indeed an LLY and that I had the right part # etc etc, then put the old fuel filter back on.

Has anyone installed the new filter and did they encounter the same issue? Maybe I just need to really push it on hard to get to the point the threads will engage?

Thanks in advance

you didn't accidently leave the black grommet on the filter head did you? sometimes they come off and get stuck on the filter head, preventing you from installing a new filter...

You have tu use a little upward force when screwing the new filter on, that grommet fits tight on the fuel pickup to prevent leaks. The filter you took off was, well, loose in that area, if you know what I mean...):h
