As I sit here for the 4th week waiting on my dealer to finish the injector change on my '02 2500HD CC 4x4, I considering moving to an '05 version of the same. Except for the K&N, the truck is bone stock. What can I expect, apples to apples, in a bone stock comparison of the LB7 and LLY. Driveability, mileage, power, launch from stop, general feel, etc. Thanks!

It will depend on the truck. Lots of guys here claim their lb7s were way quicker/snappier/better all around than the lly. My particular truck feels way snappier than all the lb7s I drove, including some used ones that were well broken in. But after driving them both the lly was so much quicker and snappier feeling, and of course being the right color, it was just the one I had to buy. So it will depend I suppose on your truck, and the lly you test out. I saw gardner saying how his lly was slower and less powerfull stock than his lb7, but I felt the same way about the lb7s I tried before I bought my lly. And I tried a lot of trucks. So just go test a couple and see how they compare to how your truck feels.

Thanks nar. I asked because the advertised torque on the '05 is 605. My '02 is 520. I thought it might be a lot snappier, but the VVT might tame it down somewhat. Also going to look at the '05 Super Duty, but I guess the 6.0 PS has its own issues also.
