I'm in the Army and I'm going to be stationed in Germany for the next 3 years. I'm not sure if I should take my LBZ with me or not. It was the truck of my dreams and it makes me sick when I think about gettting rid of it. Do you guys think it would be a bad idea to take it to Germany and use it on the Audubon, I know that this truck was not built for that type of driving, but I really dont want to get rid of it. Any ideas of upgrades or anything like that would be real helpful. I've never been to Germany, but I have heard that you do have to use the Audubon to pretty much get anywhere. Plus there is no diesel available on post so I have to go outside and use coupons to buy it. What do y'all think?

I was posted to Germany in the 80's and drove the Autobahn daily in my US made Plymouth Volare.. Not much difference between that and a freeway.

With fuel coupons you can get fuel at near post prices and fuel up anywhere..

My biggest concern would be the size of the vehicle, most small towns have pretty narrow streets that you will have a bit more trouble with but nothing that should prevent you from getting around..

Best of luck

You will probably want to get new tires rated for a higher speed and up the speed limiter to 110 or so , so you wont get run off the road.

When I went overseas, I had a 3/4 ton Dodge club cab...left it with my father in law. As noted above, check with your sponsor and see about the size of the vehicle vs road size and availability of good diesel.

You should be fine with your truck over, but remember everything is on liters there. The Military only allots 400 liters per vehicle every month. You will have to by fuel coupons every month since AAFES doesn't carry diesel on post there. You will have to buy it using the coupons at the local Esso's.
