And you have the choice not to buy that and to buy a quality system. You also need a good installer or you will have trouble. There won't be an OEM remote start for that truck.... None that I've heard of anyway, just the NNBS's.

I agree with jonyb. I had a Viper installed on my 1995 Sierra. It was the alarm with remote start. I had no problems with it during the ten years I owned the truck. I really missed it when I bought my DMax. I drove my DMax about a month and could not stand it anymore. I have a friend that works at a stereo store that is an authorized Viper dealer. I had them install it. It is a very computerized system and took about as long to program it the way I wanted it to work as it did to install it. I really like it and have had very few problems. The problems I had were easily fixed and very quickly. Like jonyb said, get a good authorized installer that will stand behind the product.

just for info. GM's rem start only runs 10 mins( can be doubled with a button sequence on fob). Aftermarket units are programmable up to 30 min or so,usually can be used as turbo timer or left running whilst running into the store, usually have much greater range, etc..

The beauty to that is that your truck is running with the key in your pocket and the alarm armed so someone can't gaffle your ride. Then if you're not gonna make it back you can press one button and shut it down.

I like that leaving your truck running feature with the keys in your pocket and the system armed. I can leave my daughter in the truck if I step out for a second and leave the truck running, locked, and armed. The range on my reomte is excellent. Way much better than the factory remote that locked and unlocked. Viper advertises up to a mile (and it is pretty close). Works great if you are in somewhere like a mall and the alarm goes off. The remote I have alerts you if the alarm has been tripped.

Not that I wanna go out and get my butt kicked by a burglar, but my wife's car was sideswiped at the mall a couple months ago and the idiot took off without reporting. Of course the remote was in her purse and she was working so it didn't do much good, but if I was walking through the mall and the remote beeped showing the shock sensor triggered I'd be running like Looty looking for a Hieneken.
