I picked up my new truck today and the owner of the dealership was telling me that GM has approved of a chip to modify the Dmax for more power. Does anyone know who makes it and have info on it.

Thanks

I call BS.

Gm has already throttled back the LLY in 1st and 5th I doubt they would push the allison any further.

I am surprised that GM would approve of something like this.

I got this directly from the owner. He said GM backs it up and it won't void the warranty. I can't imagine it adds too much power because he said you don't have to touch the tranny.

There is a guy I know that got a new LLY and took it back to the dealer complaining about mileage and power. The dealer told him he would still warranty the truck if he put the Edge juice on as he had it on his own dmax and thought it was the safest chip. I know it sounds unbelievable but true.

I Live In Southern Alberta And Work In Northern Alberta...all The Dealers Up Here, Ie: Ford, Chev, Dodge, Install Lift Kits And Chip Their Trucks Right Off The Lot. First Time Ive Ever Seen That, but Ok. Went In One Day Salesman Told Me That They Are Still Warrented By Gm Because It Was Installed By Them......dunno?

Have the dealer put it in writing that GM will honor the warranty if you buy it, and that thet (the dealer) will cover it if GM won't. I bet the dealer won't do it.

What a great chip to buy. Just run your big boxes and programmers and when the tranny goes BOOM just take the good stuff off, put theirs on and get towed to the dealer!):h

This is the same story I got over here in Ontario. The catch is for warranty work you have to go back to the original dealer. Unless the part has the GM Logo on it dealers will tell you you have to back to the dealer that installed it.

When I was looking for my truck I saw a GMC with a 6" lift. I asked the dealer about the warranty and he said GM will not honor the warranty on the suspension but the dealer itself (since they installed the lift or had the lift installed) was giving it a 3yr 36K mile warranty. The only hitch was that you had to bring it back to that particular dealer.

Eric (Dmaxallitech) whats your opinion of say a Juice with Attitude and the safe running of the Duramax? Under different types of driving conditions, etc....

Can you damage the engine, in the long run? Depend on driving habbits?

My local dealer sells and installs the Hypertech. The salesman was telling the buyers that they were GM approved. I am friends with the service manager and Techs. When I explained that they were setting their customers up for a fall they changed their sales pitch. They now tell the customer to download the program if they break down somewhere out of the area. Most warranty repairs decisions are made at the dealership not by GM field reps. I have posted some photos of a couple seriously broke heavily modified Dmaxes. The dealer repaired them both under warranty. Later! Frank

I havent seen any proof that any tuner/chip has caused engine problems, Propane and NOS are a different story. Put whatever you want on it, just make it disapear when you take it in...

I would think that GM would want to get on the wagon about this and try and make some money from selling stuff in hopes that more people will be inclined to purchase from them.. Never know. Could be like adding rims and tires from the dealer, more and more people are trying to have stuff like that just rolled in to their montly payment....

Just saw an ad in the newspaper. "Fxxd Year End Clearance" Want Custom? We've Got It! Your Custom Truck Accessories Headquarters in Lodi.

I see more "Custom" Fxxds on the lot then I see stock. It is hard to find ANY stock configuration trucks around in my area.

Why? Is Fxxd/Dealer willing to pay for the warranty work on trucks with mods? Do they have more confidents that their product will hold up?

I personally have not seen a modified 2500HD on ANY GM lot.

Why do I see 1500's with mods on EVERY lot?

Just thinking out loud.

Why you asking us?

Go back and ask him since he seems to know because I (and many others) would like to know also.

But I will agree and have to raise the BS flag on this one. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/images/smilies/icon_bs.gif

That is true sort of, GMC supplied a bunch of LLY's to banks, bosh redesined the fuel system with a bigger injector pump and bigger injectors. And I believe [not sure] that iszuzu is doing the computer. All so they will be twin turbo motors that redline at 5000+ RPM and produce around 1000HP and retarded amounts of torque. Banks is also desining its own pistions for the motor and everything has been ballenced and blueprinted so it dosent come apart at 5000+ rpm. Man i would love to bolt one of them into my truck, can anyone say 4x4 donuts and burnouts.

I think that the FxxD's need all the help they can get to sell their product. If they dress them up a little bit it adds more eye appeal. While GM, on the other hand, can sell a plain truck with no problem (they allready have enough eye appeal) - they know their customers are more than capable of accesorizing trucks to fit their own needs/personality. Plus the FxxD's need to do the performance modifications because they're scared the potential customer might also drive the DMax truck and not buy their Powerstroke Stupid Duties. Just my opion, take it for what it's worth.
