I have the factory spare tire mounted in the stock location and I got to thinking that if I get a flat tire on the front I won't be able to use it. On the lifts that require 4 1/2" backspacing, like my RCD, the stock wheel w/ 5+" of backspacing won't even bolt up on the front without hitting the knuckle (spindle). Are any of you guys w/ suspension lifts carrying a matching spare tire & wheel? If so, please post a picture of a 33" or bigger in the spare tire holder so I can see how it fits and looks. Thanks, Bob

It will not fit in the spare tire holder. You will have to make something to hold the tire in the bed of the truck and carry a floor jack with you. That is what I had to do. Good luck

I have a complete hummer spare (35") sitting up under there. clearance is no worse than stock spare with stock tires. Is it a tight fit ? You bet. I have about 1/2 at most all the way around the "compartment". I cannot imagine not having a spare and did not want to use up any bed space for this. the backspacing would not make a difference for the tire well. If interested, I will take some pictures and post when I get home. BTW, I do not have a lift.

I have a 6" RCD on mine with a 315/70/17 in place of the oem spare. No problem fitting, hangs down about 2" below the receiver....

ski1, Please post a picture if it is not too much trouble, I would like to see how it looks hanging down a couple of inches. Thanks, Bob

Damn, I didn't think anything bigger than a 265 would fit under a short bed. It looks as though if anything bigger was stuffed under there it might come in contact with the diff if it went thru to much travel. guess I should have tryed it before I wrote it off!

ski1, Thanks for the pictures. It is definately a tight fit. I was hoping that I would not be able to see that much of the tire. Bob

I took mine out completely, I plan on getting a bed mount of some sort, one of the things you have to remember about mounting a spare underneath is aftermarket exaust, and differential cover. Those two could definitly be a problem, when your talking about a tire that big.

Here's a link with some pics, thats my 5 inch exaust, as you can see, no room for even the 245 spare.
