hey guys i have a 2000 s-10 blazer, that is making a humming, whining noise going down the road as speed picks up over 20 mph. It sounds like truck with mud tires on it, humming down the road. the tires had about 50,000 on them so i figured it was the tires. so i got new tires on there, pull out of the shop get going down the road and same thing, ( i got tires from wal-mart so i was going to ask for help)
so here is were its a little strange the noise goes away in a left hand turn but not right. i do not see anything rubbing. there is slight high frequency vibration in the steering wheel that goes along with the sound freguency.
so im thinking some sort of joint or wheel bearing, how can i check these items. im pretty handy but never got into anything other than oil changes/altenators and tune ups.
thanks guys.

Pick up the front end and wiggle/push/pull the wheel to feel any play. Everything should be nice and solid. If not, see what's moving.

My buddies 02 Jimmy had the same problem last weekend and it was the wheel bearing. It only had 68,000 on it. Take the tire off the side you think you hear it from and rotate the hub by hand. If you hear the bnoise im sure its the bearing. His was tight with no slop.

sounds like your bearing on the right. when you turn to the left your taking some load off the bearing so it will go away. but i would pull the bearing and spin it first to know for sure. since there not cheap.

hey guys thanks for all the support, pulled both front wheels off and brake assy. off and spun the rotors the right sounded like it had rocks for bearings the left sounded o.k. replaced the hub assy. fairly easy and put everything back togethere and blazer rode great!!
thanks to everyone who replied.
