What kind of oil and fuel filters do you recommend and why?
Also has anyone used lucas fuel additive in their duramax?

Oil- Amsoil 5w-30. Because of all the oils I've tried it works the best for me.

Oil: Rotella 15w-40 during the summer for good wear protection and low oil consumption, Rotella 5w-40 during the winter for easier cold starts. Change both at 3000 miles

Oil Filter: Wix; because according to Amsoil, Wix filters better than AC Delco, and they cost about half as much. Wix is not as efficient as Amsoil, but also not as expensive.

Fuel Filter: AC Delco; Probably not the most efficient, but change it often to keep fuel as clean as possible, with minimal restriction, hopefully the new OEM with 2 sets of pleats will filter better.

Fuel Additive: Power Service; disperses water and boosts cetane up to 4 points, also has Slick Diesel additive to increase lubricity of low sulfur diesel. Run 1 tank with Power Service Diesel Kleen after each oil change to clean entire fuel system.

Can't give you an opinion on Lucas, haven't used any of their products.

Shell Rotella 15-40 and OEM oil filter. Get Lube and Oil changed at dealer. Cost about $30.00 bucks and I supply the oil. Reason for dealer service is that in the event there is ever a warranty problem you case is cut and dry. No outside service company and GM going at it while you are hanging on the line. Will get rid of the vehicle prior to warranty expiration so OEM filters OK for my purposes.

. Run stock oil/fuel filters on my d-max. im planning on changing my oil every 5000, and will prolly be changing mine for the 2nd time shortly. Chalk up another vote for Rotella. 15-40 is what im running, but i think for the cold im gonna go to the 5-40 for if nothing else, peace of mind. FF- no 2nd filtration here, just plan on chaning the stock one every other oil change or 10k.
Not to hijack your thread JH, but glad to hear some feedback on the Powerservice additive...Ive been thinking about using it, and have been looking for some feedback on it...if anyone else is using it, id appreicate your feedback on it...Can pm me, that way i dont further intrude on the question at hand

Schaeffer Syn Blend 15w40 for summer(or Rotella T 15w40)
Schaeffer Fuel Additive, sometimes FPPF on occasion Power Service if I run out. I haven't noticed a difference from one brand to another, except for the fact that in the winter additives tend to keep my MPG up.

Oil filter currently running the M1 303 synthetic media which is supposed to be the best for single filtration systems. Secondly Baldwin which over the last 2+yrs of reading has run to the best conventional media(and if memory serves Baldwin also makes the Amsoil filter for them).

Fuel filter, all fuel filters are made by Racor and re-branded under various names, just go by the best price.

Mobil Delvac 1300 15w40 In Summer...0w40 In Winter Months. Have Been Using Fleetguard Fuel & Oil Filters, But The Threads On The Mobil 1-303 Oil Filters Got Me Ta Thinkin There Might Be A Change There, Fuel Filters Will Still Be Fleetguard. In My Line Of Work We Are Sent To Preventative Maint Courses, The People Running Them Are Independent So There Arent Any Biased Oppinions. They Have Told Me That Filters Like Baldwin, wix, fram, etc Are Bottom End (no Offence To Those Using) And Should Be Avoided. They Are Prone To Falling Apart Under Normal Usage. I Know That Fleetguard Filters Are More $$$ But To Me Its Worth It. Should Have Another Course This Spring, Dont Remember All The Reasons, But The List Was Long And In Depth On Why Not To Use These Brands Of Filters, Just Rembered Not To Use Them. Filter Companies Will Also Sell There Filters To Another Company, They Will Paint Them A Diff Colour And Call Them There Own,in Other Words Buyer Beware.

Guess I'm the odd ball here as I use Castrol 15W40 year round. I also use NAPA (Wix) fule, oil air and trans filters. Actually I use Castrol in every thing I own; Honda Gold wing, John Deere tractor, wife's PT, back hoe and outboard boat motor.

Have used mostly Shell Rotella-T in both the 15W40 dino and the 5W40 semi-syn flavors. Have also used a good bit of Mobil Delvac 1300 Super 15W40 (have that in the truck now). Thinking about going full time with the Schaeffer's, since some people have been happy with it. I have an Amsoil dual remote - change oil every 7,500 miles, change full flow filter with every oil change and bypass cartridge at every other change. Have been doing oil analysis since 30,000 miles and have had continuing excellent results through 95,000.

Delvac 1 and OEM filter. I use FPPF total power and FPPF +8 in the summer for a little extra boost with pulling power. I was using Shell syn until now. It is so very cold here in Chicago that I feel better at 5x40 for the winter.

I had my 1st freeze up this past weekend at 0 due to someone unplugging my truck. Plugged it in and 1 hour later it stated. it was rough but it started.

I tried Power Service for awhile and was not impressesd, I couldnt really tell any difference in the way the truck ran or any better milage. It is about everywhere to buy but in my opinion there is a lot better products out there, Im currntly using a soy type addative and my truck pings alot less and I gained about 1.5 mpg.

I have used Lucas in my last diesel (Ford) and my new truck. Like someone mentioned in an earlier post, I havn't seen any difference that is untill I put some Lucas in my wife's Suburban. It was running a little rough at stop lights. Almost immediatly I noticed that it was running smoother. The next day she asked me what I did to her car. She says it is running much smoother.

I guess we all are so anal about our trucks that we keep them up so well that they don't get a chance to run rough.

I put Lucas in every tank for my truck.

I know now that it really does work.
