Lets say i have a 2wd truck that has a sm465 on it....everyone knows that the 3rd gear is a 1:1 ratio....now lets say i have a 4x4 truck that has a sm465 and the np208 transfer case....does the transfer case change this ratio of 1:1 to something different or does it still stay 1:1? so i guess i'm asking if 2wd HIGH's gear ratio on a 4x4 truck is the same as an actual 2wd truck's final gear ratio? thanks

yes,i believe all transfer cases are 1 to 1 in high range and all non-overdrive transmisions are are 1 to 1 in high gear.

yep thats right in high the same as what the trans is outputting in low is almost 2 1.96:1 to be exact which means that if in high range you are going 40 in third and you shift to low you will do about 20 in third gear turning the same rpm
anyways good night i am tired hahahaa

correct when the t-case is in hi its a 1:1 ratio, meaning that whatever the gearing from the tranny is (lets say your in granny gear at 6.55:1) the output on the t-case is in the same gear, 6.55:1. if your in top gear on the sm465 (4th overall but labeled as 3rd) then its 1:1.
np203 low range-1.96:1
np205 low-1.96:1
np208 low-2.6:1
your truck being a 1/2 ton has the np208. if you in either 2wd or 4x4 hi then the t-case gear ratio is 1:1.
