Just wondered what you guys think this car is worth. It was my father's who had it since 87. He was the second owner and never drove it. It's got 22275 original miles and yes it is original. Problem is it doesn't have AC or any other razzle dazzle except the Hurst 4 speed(saginaw), tach, intermittent wipers and added cruise control. It does not have the factory radio but some kind of tape/cb HU. The motor is the GM 305 2bbl. It runs and drives like a top. I put new exhaust on it and front calipers, new fluids throughout, headliner, tuneup etc... The rod that holds the trunk up snapped.
I know I cannot go by this but NADA puts it at 11K for average retail and 21K for great shape. I'd definitely call this car in excellent condition. If my son was older I'd keep it for him just for the sheer simplicity and the ability for him to be able to maintain it himself. The rear bumper is faded where the back of it sat in the sun in the garage. My dad didn't keep the car covered all the time... :(
I know I know if it was only a trans am, if only it had a better motor, AC etc... but it doesn't but what it does have is low mileage, no bondo, nothin...

That looks like a Formula versus the standard Firebird. I have never seen one with a Hurst 4 speed on the 305. It seems kind of odd to have those two options mated together; the 305 was an anemic 145 hp.

I have a buddy into '70s Firebirds big time. He had a '73 Formula 400, a '78 T/A and a '7 Silver Anniversary T/A. I'll drop him a note and see what he knows about your '78.

Nice car. I say hold on to it for the boy to play with when he's 16. If he keeps it in one piece, it'll only go up in value, they are very desireable, even with the 305.

For a value, get on some T/A websites and look at something comparable or go to the local hotrod hangout and ask some of the guys with an older Firebird-T/A. Here in Houston, I know we have a group call Trans Am Club of Houston, nice guys, very knowledgeable.
