If its cold should you give it some throttle to start it? I think the 6.2 your supposed to stomp it to the floor. Today I fired up the john deere in 10deg with no block heater. It sounded like it wanted to go so I shoved the gas pedal to the floor and it jumped to life with a ploom of black smoke. :D

I always do in the winter, about 1/4 throttle on the 6.5 It sure seems to help

Yes, give it some.
I don't know about the 6.5, but if you want the fast idle noid to start working you have to tap the throttel once it fires.

I think on the visor in my truck is says before you start it to shove the pedal to the floor and let off. Then you start the engine, must be a fast idle thing or a mechanical injection thing.

I think it's more of a issue with mechanical injection then with electronic. I always push it at least half way on my 6.2 when it's cold, but rarely push it on my 6.5. Your 6.5 being a 92 is still mechanical, so it would be about the same as a 6.2 system.

So far its started fine with no throttle, maybe cranked over 2 rev instead of 1.

I dont know if it helps with elec engines, but I have a 3406B CAT mechanical and a little throttle opens the fuel rack and definitely helps it start.
