You will need to reset it after each oil change to prevent the light from coming on untill the next oil change is due. You should have instructions in your owners manual that's specific to your truck's year model.

Just reset it after every oil change unless you use sythetic oil with extended drain intervals then just reset it and ignore it.

with steering wheel controls, just toggle until the oil life is displayed, then press and hold the lower right (reset) button.

without steering controls, with the key on, but engine off, mash the accelarator three times within 5 seconds.

Turn on your ignition, pump throttle 5 times, and then start it. The light should flash
5 times indicating it has been reset.

I have an 02. I have tried to reset a bunch of times in the last few days. It won't reset. (using go go pedal)
I am running Rotella 5W40 synthetic. It only has about 5,000 KLMs (3,000 miles) on the oil. Beginning to wonder if the Oil Life Management System knows something that I don't.

Any thoughts?

the go go pedal worked for me on my 1999 5.3 gasser and 2004.5 (with steering wheel controls). Turn the key on, but don't start the engine, three quick to the floor pumps, and that should do it.

Sometimes the pedal mount on the firewall gets tweaked and does not get the full travel. You can pull up a little on the pedal or reset the light by using a code scanner.

All the indidcator lights come on when you turn the key on and then go off almost immediately. Purpose is to show the light is working. If one stays on, then be concerned.

Using the go pedal has worked before. Now, no.

I have the words show up Change Engine Oil" In the box that shows an icon for the battery, and cargo lamp is on.
