Is the 9011 low beam and the 9012 high beam?

I have had my Phillips Rallye bulbs in for 3 years. I would like to change them out before they fail. Could you explain the HIR bulbs please. Thanks,

The HIR 9012 replaces a stock 9006/ HB4 bulb.<o =""></o>

The HIR 9011 replaces a stock 9005/ HB3 bulb

My suppler is saying that the 9012 is the low beam so is the 9006 the low beam. I naturally assumed the since 9012 is higher than the 9011 that the 9012 is the high beam, but he difinitely said "the designation is counter-intuitive".

Thanks - I would guess that they are better than the ones they replace, but how? I drive as much at night as during the day, so good lights are a must. The Kennedy headlight harness works wonders.

Thank you for the information - seems a really good way to go, and be legal.

The guy that runs that website is great to do business with. The bulbs work great. If you replace your Low & High beams you won't be disappointed. Got them in my 04.5 and like them as much as the HID in my 01.

Is anyone running them yet? Are they as good as they are supposed to be?

I posted above having them in my 04.5 Chevy. I also have a set in my buddys 02 K1500. Another set in dads 03 K1500HD. Trust me you can tell when someone has these but they are not blinding to others. They also don't look anything like the Silverstars. The low beams are as bright as the stock high beams.

If there such a great bulb why are they sold on e-bay and not at national stores or at auto parts stores? If there made by GE and Toshiba I would think they would be more popular and available on a more national level.
Not saying they don't work well I'm just a little leary of parts that are so "great" but are only available through a very limited source.

Just my .02

PS If any one else has them let me know how well they work so I can get some too :)

I'm going to order mine right now. I hope they are worth the $130 with shipping.

I got them for my low beams. My 100W High Beam Kennedy Ralley's are still going strong after two trucks..Anywho..

The HIR bulbs are pretty good. They are quite bright and throw a good pattern on the road in my 03 HD. They are not white like the silverstars or HID. My main reason for switching was I missed my 70W ralley bulbs, and the silverstars have absolutely no life span. ( 20 hours for me on average )

So far, I like them. I am waiting for the longevity test:D

Well I put one low beam HIR to compare with the Rallye bulbs and the Rallye bulbs are brighter. The HIR would be brigther than the OEM abd Silerstars. Too bad the rallye bulbs do not last longer. The HIR are suppost to last longer. I did notice that the HIR bulbs did spread the light more evenly than the Rallye bulbs. But I still like the Rallyes better.

Can you still buy the ralley bulbs?

Yes you can still buy the rallye bulbs just do search or look around on this forum.

Here Max, even canada

You may have to sweet talk them, as they are an option to the harness (70/100W)

Well i'll give them a try if I am not happy with the HIR. The nice thing about the HIR is you don't have to upgrade your wiring and they last as long as normal bulbs.

The rally 70/100 are off-road design. I can't say for sure but they may last a long time.

I don't think you have to worry about wiring in the newer truck, it is very stought compared to the earlier trucks, for which the harness was really necessary.

I saw a thread a couple months ago, there was almost no voltage drop, even when using the 70/100.

I doubt the OEM wiring/plugs can handle 100 watts.

Too bad the rallye bulbs do not last longer

You may be right.

I have the rally and harness, LOTS of light.

I really like the HID's (real, 30,000V HID) on an acura I drove a few weeks ago. I would like to see that on my truck.

Max, you will like the HIR bulbs. I've been running them in the Hibeams for almost a year and think they really put out a lot of light and nice pattern (I also have the upgraded harness) I got my HIR's from Daniel Stern who recommended them at the time. I'm running normal bulbs in the lowbeams as I don't think the low-beam HIR's were available when I bought my HIR's. I just ordered some Rally lows though ...I plan to run Rally's in the low beams and HIR highs. If I don't like the Rally lows I'll try the HIR lows.

Rallye for low and HIR for high is probably the best combo. This way you get the straighter ahead pattern on the rallye low beams and then the more evenly spreadout pattern of the HIR high beam. Of course this would with a booster kit. Thanks for mentioning this combo.

I just received my HIR bulbs from http://www.finemotoring.com/ He is VERY good to deal with. No problems at all and he handled my personal requests with no problems. He even refunded back my paypal some money because the shipping to Canada was cheaper then he thought. Although if he had asked me first I would have told him not to bother.

They are definitely brighter then stock. I was running the silverstars up to now. They are a bit brighter then the silverstars but not a whole lot. It would be a big step up if you were going from stock headlights directly to the HIR's. The big advantage to them is they are supposed to last a lot longer then silverstars. Although I never had trouble with my silverstars, I've had them long enough that they likely wouldn't last much longer. I do like the whiter light of the silverstars better then the HIR's.

I just put them in tonight so they might prove to be even better then my first impression.

Brighter then Silverstars
WAY brighter then stock
Long lasting (As long as your regular OEM's)
No extra load on your OEM wiring
Whiter then OEM's
Not as white as Silverstars.

All in all they are worth the money. Silverstars are a big improvement over stock as well but they burn out faster.

If the HIR's were as white as the Silverstars I would be as happy as can be.

Tony, what would you think if they were used along with Kennedy's harness? This sounds like an interesting mod....

I never cheked voltages but GM does use relays from the factory so there shouldn't be too much difference. It definately wouldn't hurt it any but I not convinced that the gain would be worth the cost. (Of the KD harness)
