The other night, I was driving a curvy road like a formula 1 driver. I came out of a curve, floored it, and the tranny downshifted and set for a split second (like it was slipping) then took off. I was running about 50-60.

My question is, is it turbo lag or tranny slip?

On Edit: The predator is set on 86hp.

I have found in the last 3 yrs the tranny gets confused, and does something stupid, then just keeps on going for the next 2 or 3 months in a normal fashion, the worst was when I was towing and crested a mountain road, took my foot of the gas peddle to coast down the mountain, the tranny down shifted and hit 3500 to 3800 rpm, I thought the engine had blown up, well I don't do that any more.

a little insite to a great tranny.

That scared the bejeesus out of me when my ally did that! Thankfully it did only one time, a year ago, and there has not been any recurrences.

guess you never heard of the grade braking. Sounds normal to me. The engine can rotate in the dotted red area, just can't produce power in that area.

Between 50-60 it comes into play. 55 on mine.

My 01 has never taken it beyond redline but my 04.5 had taken it to 3800 6 or 7 times running through the smokey mountains. It is grade braking, but the first couiple times it did it sure makes you think it is going to be toast. However if you just touch the gas it shifts back up.):h -:t

Sounds like maybe the convertor unlocked and then locked back up. It will feel like tranny slip but it is actualy the convertor slipping like its suppose to. Matt
